Post news Report RSS Our wait, hath finally paid off.

Well, as most (if not all) of you know, our wait has finally paid off... Carnius, has released the latest installment of our favorite mod; Tiberium Essence.

Posted by on

With the release of it, I have felt obligated to assist in the furthering of this group's activity, along with hopefully the mod's as a whole.

There has been much debate in the comments about possible ideas/activities for the group, such as a map making contest, a tournament, etc.

I would like to bring this to a vote, I would like to first gather ALL ideas, even if you think your idea is silly and nobody else will like it... Throw it in the pot, maybe others will like it as well.

What I don't want; People voting for other people's suggestions here... I don't mind if there's double posts of a suggestion, but I don't want near meaningless comments about a suggestion like "That sounds cool, would vote for" or the sort... Though I don't mind useful discussion about it, we might be able to improve the concept before we add it to the roster of things to be voted upon.

Make your suggestion here in the comments of this news post, please.

On to the next part of business... I would like to also ask if any of you would be interested in an executable installer for TE 1.6, I could perhaps whip one up that would give you a shortcut and all, if I have the time. If enough people seem interested, I'll work on that on my free time --- It shouldn't really take all the long.

-------------------------------

Lastly, I would like to ask all of you to 'Please!' post screenshots and videos from 1.6, show us your cool new bases, your awesome new formations, anything and everything about the mod... Also post any bugs you might find, in the pictures and/or in the bug report thread in the TEF Forums........ On that note, don't forget to use the forums for critique purposes.

Thank you, and I hope you all enjoy playing the latest version of this great mod!

Map making contest followed up by a tournament that is run on only the maps from the contest. Just to make sure they get some love!

Personally, Im quite disapointed by the update as a whole. Feels like it brang a lot of unneeded changes and didnt fix anything of the things needing a makeover, or even solved simple things like misspellings.

I've yet to be able to put in any time into the mod, yet I believe that this is most likely a case of waiting too long... The longer the wait and the more anticipation can turn otherwise good/decent things into a let down.

Thing is though, Ive not been really excited or waiting for it. I just feel its a shame a great mod has taken a step or two backwards.

How easily we forget of things we do not see... Hath thou forgot of all of our new mapping assets? Some of this update will not be seen in it's true glory until the fanbase pulls off some good works... Once we have some fanmade maps off of TE 1.6, then I believe we shall see this update in all it's awesomeness.

So, I mean, essentially what it comes down to is the fact that I feel you're judging it a bit too harshly when pretty much half the update is utterly unseen.

So, as for the idea on what to do in regards to group activities, I believe that the most secure option would be a mapping contest. Although I'd freaking love to see/attend a tournament, I fear that it has the highest risk of falling through. Additionally, I strongly agree with Smallchange and the production of user-made 1.6 content. I imagine that a mapping contest is indeed a good method for doing so. I also think that Goober Trooper has a great idea with a tourney taking place after a map contest, highlighting some of the new user content that were created.

Lastly, to put my thoughts on the "Tib Essence taking a step back" thing, I think that it may be a bit early to make any solid conclusions. As far as I have experienced, the mod actually has become a bit more balanced in several ways, and the factions feel even more established than what they previously were. One of the main things I noticed though, was it almost seems that the Tacitus Archive units are just slightly overpowered in some ways, but it's not like you can pivot your entire match on those units alone.

Whoops, sorry for the text wall. :P

Depending on the time, I would totally get back into a tournament environment.
