Posted by on

Hey
Im back from holiday with some news...

Ive been working on some new turrets for each faction.
Orbital turrets
front row is anti-fighter, second row is anti-ship and back row is a faction specific ability sats.

Starting from the left going to the right we have

Stargate (models harvested from stargate: empire at war)
front - AG3 (anti-fighter - fires AG3 beam), middle - Ori (anti-ship - fire ori beam), Back - Lantian Sensor (model to be replaced - long range sensor, revealing FOW)

Battlestar (models harvested from stargate: empire at war)
front - Canon (anti-fighter - fires white back canon shots), middle - Missile (anti-ship - fires cylon missiles), Back - Repair station (repairs ships within a given range)

Star trek (yes i know they all look the same, im going to reskin them and make them look a little differnt)
front - Phaser (anti-fighter - Fires Red Phaser beam), middle - Photon torpedoes (anti-ship - Red Photon torpedoes), back - (Tractor Beam sat)

Star Wars
front - Laser (anti-fighter - fire red lasers), middle - Missiles (anti-ship - missiles), back - gravity Well station ( prevents ships jumping in withing a set distance - if i can get it to work...)

Starship Troopers
front - MAC Cannon (anti-fighter - fires MAC shots), middle - Missile Pod (anti-ship - fires missiles), back - repair station( repairs ships)

So these are the turrets. What do you think about them?

too bad the lantean beam satelite didn't make it in (however it probably would be very difficult to balance). in total they are great nice job!

A staggered release is a good idea, you can tweak existing factions too as there's only the workload equivalent of one new faction in that setup.

In my opinion, the Star Wars gravity well seems sort of useless if it doesn't jam the whole map. It should be able to deflect missiles too (not the whole map though, LOL).

So it does jam the whole map? Because:

no, it works like a mini-grav generator. It blocks an area of about 2/3 the size of a normal one. They are useful
