Here is a video demonstrating some of the newest Vox features:

This includes:

  • Treasure chests (This will contain phat loot).
  • Signposts - Can be placed in the world and the text can be edited.
  • NPC follow behaviour.
  • Ore depostits (In this demonstration I let the NPC interact with the ore, but it is mine-able by both players and NPCs).
  • Item 'magnet' - Makes collecting items easier.
  • Damage text popups when damage occurs.
  • New player model - Dwarf Head :P
  • Item quantities - Bombs and arrows (No longer infinite supply).

These features will be included in the upcoming version v0.19

Very nice demonstration! I especially like how you've got animated voxels - from what I've heard, getting voxels to animate in a respectable manner is a minor miracle.

Seeing that there appear to be some fluid-looking monsters in the video, it would be cool if such monsters, instead of dying like normal monsters, could transform into a fluids-based puddle using the water system demonstrated in a previous newspost.

Also, how are you planning to overcome the AI pathfinding difficulties hinted at in the presentation video? I'd be interested in seeing what you'll come up with!

Oh wow... that is a really cool idea actually... I could quick easily hook up the slimes dying to creating water, that runs away and evaporates.

Thanks for the suggestion, I hope you don't mind if I steal this idea and try it in the game? :P

O rly? How can a game be made from the source of another if said source hasn't been released yet? Regardless, if you're really that convinced, why don't you tell the folks at ModDB the same thing? You can reach them at Moddb.com , and yes, they read it - I, myself, have personally used it in regards to some questions I had for last year's MOTY and GOTY awards AND got an answer in return! (Of course, if you're referring to Infiniminer, an open-source game which even Minecraft uses for part of its own source, then pardon my n00bage.)

Actually miniclu this game is 100% my own source, I have not used any source from any other game. I started making this voxel engine as part of a Ludum Dare competition 6 months ago... you can look it up if you want.

Thanks for the clarification Expack :)
