Well, its November so I would like to discuss current events relating to our mod. The first thing is the first public preview of this concept art. This concept drawing done by Xero shows two civilians hanging out on the streets of Los Reyes, our main city map. The second thing is this gun model done by one of our modelers, kLoNe.
There have also been interesting events over the past week. The owner of the mod copying us, Sacrator replied in our own forum. You can see the full discussion at Boards.gabionstudios.com In addition to that, one of our modelers, kLoNe, has begun working on a new car model. Those pictures should be out soon in the coming week or so. Xero is working on a new concept drawing which should also be out soon enough. We have also gotten a shoutbox and a dynamic design document system online. All in all, things are flowing quite nicely around here and we hope that it continues to be like that.

Hey you're the one who thought it would be a good idea to flame the other turbosquid-backed ut07 RPG mod in your news post.
It's not the style of the single piece of concept art your "glorious" team has managed to produce, it's the fact that your mod brings absolutely nothing new to the table. I've seen this pattern countless times before. If you dig around MDB long enough, you've find hundreds of similar, dead mods with the exact same thing to show. And when anyone criticizes your work or points out how unoriginal it is, you huff and puff and try to blow the house down, but only manage to blow smoke out of your own butt.
I'm sorry, but you're just going to have to do better to impress me. And trying to pimp a mod for a game that hasn't been released and whose engine hasn't been proven, tested or even has an SDK isn't the way to do it. Not to mention the possibility that your team might be using work that isn't your own without the proper credit.
Starting a flame war over who came up with the concept for an 'RPG mod' is stupid. Neither of the two mods in question got there first - it's been suggested so many times I've lost count. For example, a quick search of the moddb forums dug up this one from almost four years ago:

If I had no life, I could find a lot more examples out there, and probably some will be even older still. Now if anyone actually finished one of these open-ended uber-rpg mods, that would be news-worthy ;)

Just some info which you probably already know: but UT2007's poly counts aren't that far off from Ut2k4, it's all in the shaders, of course it can be used as a normal map in the end.
Well, even if it was aquired elsewhere, it still needs skinning, animating, and baking down to a low poly+normal map version. If the UTRP team can walk the walk, it will show through when those three stages are complete. I'm just going to wait patiently, and let their future progress speak for them.

That is a model by kLone, our weapons modeller.
He made it for a project at his graphics design class.
So now we are using it for UTRP.

Infact theres thousands of AK47 models for counterstrike, and i find a lot of them to look the same, yet theres minor differences. For one, the sides of klones are more detailed.
find another scar with the "EXACT" poly count plus the exact flaws those flaws being the sights measure also find another scar c780 with melding iron sights i mean this isnt a generic ak (which has no differences *** the AK is as stock as it gets) you dumb *** this is a very new and specific veriant of the FNH scar i mean this was made without blue's which also makes it very hard to find and do not tell me that this calibur of a modeller is working for a half *** mod like this i mean this was high grade work plus whoever said the sides of clones is more detailed your an idiot its exactly the same download the model and look for yourself i mean talk if you know what your talking about

The model does appear to be the same one as far as I can tell - but that aside, why does a role-playing-game show off gun models?
Guns look the same. Would a 5-7 look like a deagle in real life? I think not. Do you have a problem with my concept artist liking anime? I don't care if you have a problem with his artwork. It is probably better than anything you could draw so I suggest you just leave it at that. The gun shows that were working on the mod if you didn't know. Thats what news posts are for, showing the public you're actually working on something and making progress. So if you want to criticize this mod for no reason like a bunch of immature kids be my guest. But the only person you are hurting is yourself.
Just admit you got the gun off turbosquid and quit bullshitting. Otherwise you might want to get a modeler who actually models rather than one that finds and downloads other peoples work for you and claims it as his own. Laff

Unreal Editor 3 comes with UT2007. Anyone who mods for UT2007 would know that. That model is different than the one that loser posted. All he is a worthless Sacrator supporter. It saddens me deeply that people can act so immature and stupid and continue to even though those around them do not and try to encourage some maturity. There are numerous examples of these people commenting on this news post. I won't name names but you will know who they are if you look at some of the comments left in here. We are not dead, we are far from it. I got a whole design document 40+ pages long and its still being worked on. Of course I don't release it to the public because good ole' sacrator will "borrow" the whole goddam thing. Just you watch. When we win the MSU you would of wished you believed in us.
Paranoia, illusions of grandeur, arrogance...need I say more? I don't even know what Sacrator IS let alone care.
Just because UT2k7 comes with a level editor doesn't mean that it will suddenly produce a mod on its own. Who knows what Epic has done with the engine since UT2k4 besides shaders and physics. Do you honestly expect to develope a 4 star mod right away on a game that hasn't been released and that nobody has played with or dug around in?
Look at Gears of War, a game using the same engine. The amount of work required to make a level or model compareable to and as detailed as the original game is immense. Can you imagine developing a mod for it? How much work it would require? Can your computer even run UT2k7? And if your mod fails to deliver on any level, subjective or not, and people do not feel it takes advantage of the engine, expect community retribution.
Right, I don't care who you say copied who's idea, or who you say copied what model, but this has to stop. Claiming one group came up with the idea of a role-playing game first is like any one of the other 41 registered role-playing mods coming up to you and going "OMG THIS IS OUR IDEA OUR LAWYER WILL SEND U A CEASE AND DESIST LOL!". I will agree that the model does seem to be identical in every detail to the one on TurboSquid, and would suggest confronts kLoNe about it, but this is not the place for you all to bitch about it.
What Sacrator may or may not have done is irrelevant to this news post, and you are simply using it as an avenue to drag more people into the argument. Mod DB is not the place to start or continue flame wars.
Hey I only posted a short sentence about how were the original Role-Play mod for UT2007. Then these people started flaming me. So technically they were the starters. I already decided not to reply to these idiots. They can post all they want. It just makes them look bad. I am going to confront kLoNe. That I decided last night. But as of now I think that he didn't steal it and was defending him against this angry mob of flamers.

Anybody who posts to complain, bitch, whine, troll or incite flames about copying, concepts, models, styles, bans, forums, who said what, or anything else which gets on my nerves will receive one Mod DB warning per comment in this article regardless of when you posted it. Good job guys, looks nice! I dont think anyones heard of the normal setting in maya called normal smoothing. Most people judge models based on there hard edges. I think this model will be fine. Ive loaded over 100k+ poly models in scenes and have had people not complain about any lag when asked about there frame rate in-game.
though 100k is way too much to have in-game i admit lol.
