Post news Report RSS New Wheels, and updated models.

Over the last week I went to work tweaking the cars to better resemble their real world counterparts, as well as creating accurate wheel textures for each car.

Posted by on

Besides slight improvements to the actual models; most notably the Countach, I completely remade the wheels UVs and textures. The old UVs were 128x128 and had a lot of wasted space, while the new ones are 64x64 and are quite compact. Instead of all cars having the generic place holder wheel, they now have accurate wheels based on the stock wheels on the real versions of the cars.

Left is new UV, right is old.

Still need to give the police cars this treatment, but I need a bit of a break.

IT HAS BEGUN

Delko you could easily get it down to 1/4th that size with some overlapping uv's

Willy, the reason I didn't use a 1/4 texture for the front of the wheel is because not all the wheels are going to be symmetrical on all sides like the lotus's wheels. Look at the Ferraris wheels, they're 5 point starts, so that method wouldn't work. What I could do is halve the wheels and mirror them, so it has a 64x32 texture like so: Img195.imageshack.us
This would kill the ability to do any wheels with non vertical symmetry, so im not sure if the extra 500~ bytes size difference I save is a good trade off.
