Report article RSS Feed New Vehicle Physics Demo - New vehicle set up demo Just showing off the new vehicle set up for the main vehicle in the game, it's now possible to slam the car into reverse almost immediately (instead of having to be stationary before you could enter reverse) - which makes J-turns possible, as demonstrated in this video... Oh, and what's that at the end?.......

A new video showing off the new vehicle set up in the game, - I've changed quite a lot about the handling characteristics of the car, and as such had to remove the lap times that were on the server (sorry!) - suffice to say the new car is a LOT easier to drive, without the near constant understeer seen in previous versions. (Seriously this thing corners now) - and as you can see in the video it's now capable of doing some things that just weren't possible before, donuts being one of them, and J-turns being another. The game now allows the player to put on reverse gear pretty much instantly allowing for at least a bit of a chance of staying on the track after a bad jump.

You can also see some of the new features I've been working on, (in the bottom left) is the leaderboard, which keeps track of the best ever times (it's not "live" yet - and merely updates when you start playing - might stay this way due to server load - we'll see)

When in car, be sure to check out the new wing-mirrors material, (what do you mean you didn't notice?) it's all blue now, wooooo...

The lighting in general has been tweaked to give the car a bit more love. And you might notice something curiously odd about the car's skin....... what might that indicate? Who knows eh? ;)

Progress is going well, and you might see something interesting at the end of the video.. (more info on this soon)

this looks GREAT!!!
really well done how the car moves etc,
just one small remark, i could be wrong but it looks sometimes
like the break things (forgot the English word for it, am dutch)inside
the wheels turn red while the car just runs forward. so it looks like the break is used hard and heavy while this not seems to be the case.
sorry for my bad explanation but i hope you know what i mean.
But other then that, really great stuff you present here!!!

@Leon = Thanks for the comment, the brake disc's are directly linked to the brake key - so as soon as I either engage the handbrake or the normal foot brakes, the brakes warm up (and turn red) - although looking at that video it does seem that the cool down is a bit fast..

I think I'll take a look at it so that it builds up a bit more gradually.. Thanks for the feedback.

C`mon people... nobody here has ever herd of Stunt Car Racer?

This game is more like a Stunt Car Racer remake than a trackmania clone as far as I can see...
