I'll be honest, the EaW community in general is falling apart. You have a few new people coming in that really have no skills to speak of. They seem to want to learn but only if you teach them every step of the way. I remember back in the day the only way to learn to mod a game was to jump in and do it. Sink or swim. Live and learn. Trial and Error. Questions were encouraged, but experienced modders expected you to do most of the work.

Of course the experienced modders were different back then too. They didn't look down on new people's attempts as pathetically embarrassing. And even if they did, they remembered themselves and how their original work looked and kept any comments constructive and not derogitory. But then again it could just be the EaW modding community. I've modded other games and there is more respect both ways in these other communities than in EaW.

I won't even begin to try and understand tho, life is too short to worry about the little stuff and this is most definately the little stuff. I've decided to move on to other things, primarily back to replica prop building and collecting. Think of all those sci-fi shows you see, the guns, lightsabers, communicators, etc. I collect replicas of those movie props. Some are cast off of the actual movie piece, others are just really good copies. The forums are civil, the people are helpful and my 3d skills can help out there as well.

So, to that end I've decided to finish what I have and release it as is. That will be pretty much only the space units. Both the Feds and Bugs with only basic textures, coding, etc. There will be no fixes, no patches, just a as is mod. How soon I don't know. It will be when it will be.

Also, check out [R3v0]obliterator789's new map he uploaded. He put alot of effort into and hopefully, in not too long, you'll be able to play with my ships on it.

Cheers,

Rebelmoon

well i have to agree.... now everybody expects to be taught or are just plain too lazy..
I myself am a 3d modeller and i didnt have anyone to teach me and i make models that are pretty good (not the best), and every now and again i get messages from people asking me how and these days i just have a prewritten response...
i know how frustrating things can be and i wish everyone who has worked on this the best for the future :]

Will you allow somebody else with the correct skills to carry on your work on your behalf? I myself can not, but just putting it out there in case someone wants to pick it up and you approve, it would be a shame to see the hard work you have put in so far unfinished, even if it is not by yourself. just a thought. Otherwise, congrats for what you have done and good luck with your future ambitions :)

I won't discount it totally. I would definitely be open to discussing it with interested people with the required skills.
