Post news Report RSS MIDEAST CRISIS 2: MiGs, Betas and Wooden Shoe Speak

MEC2 goes into closed beta - you can apply now to join the team. Plus information on the latest threat to the skies of the Middle East!

Posted by on

With the announcement of the Closed Multiplayer Beta Test of the GOI, its time to show off their all-powerful MiG.

MiG
The newest threat to the skies of the Middle East is the MiG-39 that the Guardians of Islam recently commissioned from Russia. VTOL engineers from Yakovlev and forward-swept wing expertise from Sukhoi were united under the Mikoyan design bureau to create the best aircraft in the region. While it's unknown just how much the GOI paid for this new aircraft, it's assumed that the sum was a significant portion of their total military budget which partially explains why other military facets have been left somewhat behind, such as the GOI's fleet of tanks which still lack any active point defense systems. Whatever the cost, the result is certainly a formidable warbird; VTOL and supercruise capable, the MiG continues the Russian tradition of emphasizing maneuverability and acceleration to engage in close-in dogfights with enemy aircraft. Countermeasures built into it from the beginning make it difficult to intercept with any but the latest missile system; the Guardians claim that even the vaunted Israeli Python 5 and American AIM-120 AMRAAM are impotent against it. It is assumed but not confirmed that it's armed primarily with the R-77M1 Vympel missile system or any number of droppable ordnance. Western analysts generally agree that the MiG-39 is superior to the F-35 Lightning II in most ways save stealth and probably electronics, but only a direct confrontation between the two aircraft will prove the matter once and for all.

The planes look too turkish. As if the third party is not "Islam" but turkey.I just got the impresiion that guardians of islam should be religious faction rather than concrete islamic country. And why the camouflage is red.It just does not looks natural.Everything else seems fine.
By the way I would like if the EU are kind of zealous cristians. Not too much, but this is the Holy Land afterall.

Yeah it is the Islamic emblem (crescent and star), but I think their concern is that it has the turkish colour scheme (white crescent and star on a field of red). Generally the Islamic colours would be White and Green, though.

Islam.about.com found this on google.
interestingly, the crescent and moon as a symbol of Islam started with the turkish ottoman empire; so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to have the crescent and moon in the turkish colours. however, the five pointed star was not standard on ottoman flags.

Yes, hence why for most of our GOI units they are in the White/Green color pallet. However for this, we tasked spyVspy with designing an anime-inspired, superfast, hotrod-type jet (ingame it also has a large speed boost upgrade available). I really don't think it would look remotely as cool if it was green, or any other color.

They usually are the first, those magazines have dedicated mod sections to actually showcasing mods. Others may have sections for modding, but for example...PC Gamer US...tends to spend more time writing about how modding sucks lately, than talking about mods.

Might want to fix up that highway texture. Way too many tire marks, which are also repeated too much, and usually lines are meant to separate lanes, not for cars to centre on.

Yea, we caught the "cars driving on the lines" issue after we had uploaded it.
