May 14th, 2009 Progress continues towards getting TDM ready for a 2009 beta release. Fidcal has been working to set up movable/droppable objects so that the noise alerts AI; while you can quietly set things down, if you drop a vase on a stone floor AI will certainly notice. Angua has implemented blood decals that alert AI and can be washed away with water arrows. Ishtvan continues to fine tune combat and has also added the ability to "moss" glass with moss arrows so that it can be broken quietly.
We also had an internal map contest, to see what mappers could produce in about a month. The result has been four or five very cool little missions, including a very Thiefy sequel to 'Thief's Den' by Fidcal. These missions (plus a few others, hopefully) will provide players with lots of stealth fun when the mod is released. Flanders has also been working on a beautiful training map, where players can learn all the new features TDM offers.
There are a few new screenshots of various maps for you to see on the screenshots page. As well, we have a new video. It is an example from a map in progress, by Mortem Desino, that demonstrates a few TDM features in action, including a (strange) example of custom conversations.
Man outstang work.
have reinstalled my D3 for the StLucia, and like what I saw.
A opnion: Make the arms visible. To moments like in that video, where the player jump to the passage and grab the rock.
Yea execellent work! I loved the Thief series and your mod is a great tribute to these games.
Too bad that I don't have Doom III.
I'm very interested in this mod!
Hope that you'll change some of those character sounds though:
They're too loud and it's not about the volume level - it's as if he's not careful.
Footsteps are ok - if that is the running version, and there's the sneaking one as well.
Door sounds are ok - if the guards are meant to hear them when close by.
But the sword sound is that generic loud one which just does't fit here!
I Hope that critique is welcome - Can't wait to play your mod!
All valid criticisms, IMHO.
Nice stuff!
Your mod looks more innovative and intriguing every time I come here, keep up the good work and determination. If more mod teams worked like this we would see many more strong projects coming to release.
Look interesting. So bad the ennemies doesn't react when the player open a door near or when he takes objects, that's uncoherent, but great work on IA anyway. fps seems a bit slow too. One thing very cool is the climbing ability, well done for now and could be great with hands anims.
It is all coming together very well guys. A lot of hard work and dedication. Top marks, looks good and is working well.
Thanks for the encouraging words everyone!
Like it alot. Look forward to lotsa good missions.
