In the past two weeks I personally have been slammed with my real job and haven't had a chance to do a lot of work on the game, but in that time we have had a great surge in interest in the project and have been able to take on 4 new developers! Though some have a starting experience level, we have a good team that is dedicated to the project, and will be bringing them up to speed in no time.
We have a developer that has taken on the daunting task of the Melee system, another that has started digging into Inventory management, and yet another that is beginning the massive task of the Quest/Mission system.
In the mean time we have been able to do some testing on the vessels and have figured out that the mass of the vessel coupled with Physical Impulses in the engine means that vessel speed and turns can be made extremely realistic. See the video below (the video system will not let us add them to the vid list lately, it has been reported to the DB crew but they say nothing is wrong):
After that another quick test revealed that as of the latest engine changes that there is some form of wind interaction occurring between physicalized entities and the wind emitter. What results is a basic vessel responding to the apparent wind.
Hopefully this whets everyones appetite for now. Hopefully the DB vid system will be fixed but until then expect more news posts with videos in them!
Now that's some great progress! Good luck to the new devs as well!
fantastic keep up the great work
Holy Crap O.o the flag in the second video looks incredibly realistic!
I figured someone would eventually notice that. :)
Good stuff keep it up! :)
I've never been much for maritime history or the science of sailing, but this game looks like it'll be the one to make me crack open a book or two and broaden my horizons.
Good to see another TW forumite :)
