Post news Report RSS Known Bugs

A new version addressing the obvious, heinous bugs is my top priority.

Posted by on

So it has become clear that the final level of the tutorial is consistently bugged, as well as having (apparently) some problems with the tutorial inventory system. This is unfortunate but it should be pretty easy to fix. The good news is that I can confirm these bugs are not present in the main game.
The other major bugs I've noticed are related to a quick-and-dirty bug fix I made in the final stages of the project that lead to the red key not working properly, grenades / shurikens / explosives restocking after every screen, etc. It was a silly programming error and I will have it fixed in no time.

I will put up a new version shortly that addresses these issues, and then I'll start adding the new requested features (key binding, 2x / 3x resolutions) for a version further down the line.

Thanks everyone for the positive responses!!!

A level/mod creator, like the one in Knytt Stories, will give this game alot of extended life and might build a community to expand it

In my book, a level editor makes any game about 200% cooler so I definitely see the appeal.

Putting one in for this game would be a hell of a lot of work, but I can see how it might be possible... A good deal of the special parts of the game rely on hand-written MMF code adjusting each level, but maybe I could include some generic computers / victory conditions etc. Not sure but it would be tough.

You can get a peek of what goes into the levels on my blog, just posted about this today: www.epicbanana.com

I have another bug for you. Mission Coverup for the Delta PMC where you have to kill three Solar Scientists every scientist counts for 3 civilian deaths making the acceptance margin unachievable... nice one and i thought why I had 9 civilian deaths after just killing 3 scientists... and not only that but if you kill the cops in this stage they count as civilian casualties, too!

So I happen to have like 18 civilian kills and total amount of 24 casualties and a penalty of 700 or something.
Pls look into that too if you find the time.

+1 for Leveleditor.

Yes, that's very interesting. I'd seen this bug in a handful of places but it's odd that it's back in force on that one particular level. I'll look into it.

I'm really excited to play this game, but I'm having an issue. Everytime I start the game, this includes tghe tutorial, I always start out dead. 0 percent health everytime. Is there a fix for this?

Very strange. Not sure what's going on there, but I did encounter this bug when I first downloaded & played it on a new machine. I started out dead, pressed escape to go back to the main menu, and started a new game and it worked fine. Very weird bug for sure.

Thing is, I've escaped and restarted a bunch of times already and each time, I started dead. Like I said, this also happened on the tutorial, I'm going to try again though because I'm really looking forward to this game..

Yeah, unfortunately, I just tried it again to no avail. It sucks that I can't play this.

I have precisely the same issue after reinstalling the game in order to receive the update.

Notes:
The issue remains the same in fullscreen and windowed mode.
Health is briefly shown to be at 100 per cent, then drops to 0 without any apparent source of damage.
Death screen may not immediately show.

it's pretty involved as you've demonstrated, but considering the time you spent making it, it'd be pretty excellent to see how the community can contribute to extend its overall longevity. Not just level creation but the overall modding potential is huge. Many more visual assets can be created and added by the community, variations like night levels, other building wall textures, neon lighting... this sort of game is a pixel artists wetdream
