Hi guys,
As some of you regular visitors may have spotted, Mod DB has had the odd couple of glitches the past few days, with people getting errors on occasion. I'd like to take this opportunity to say why.
(UPDATE from our resident Network Engineer)
We've been working hard behind the scenes to bring online our new server cluster. This is a collection of servers that will be able to keep the site going 100% of the time even if something catastrophic happens.
We're still ironing all the kinks out of the system, but hope to have things back to normal over the next 24hrs.
(Original post continues...)
Recently, Mod DB moved onto a new hardware platform to help deal with the huge increase in mods, users, downloads, images, you get the picture. The simple reason for the outages is that Mod DB needs a lot of custom settings, and because our new hardware is chunkier some of these settings have needed to be changed and we're not sure what to.
Hopefully we've got it all sorted now, and the new system will make Mod DB even faster and more reliable. On the off chance that something does happen and you get an error, don't worry. The site is being monitored 24 hours a day (Some of us even get text messages when anything goes wrong, waking us from our slumber), and we strive to fix things ASAP.
COOL!

If there's a Tsunami in Houston, i'd be very worried!
well thats very good to hear, keep up that great work you guys do. Really like the site for mods, hence why I'm here.
Sorry about the further down time there is currently work being done moving the servers and site config's to the new server cluster.
Hey Guys,
Hopefully the issues should be all cleared up now. We are waiting on one last cabling run to be completed in the Datacenter, then there may be a few minutes of downtime while we change over to the new uplink.
Should be smooth sailing from then on-in!!
Do catastrophic things include Tsunamis and earthquakes?
tsk tsk!
