Yo PokeFans! Sorry for the wait, but we're working on it, really!

Posted by on

Hey guys, just want to drop off a quick update explaining why we're taking so long with the next update.

Apart from personal obstacles, the main thing we've been looking at is a launcher for the game to run from. This launcher would do what most do: start and update the game. The plan is to get that to a point we're happy with and then we can just poop out updates by the week. Skatter's taking care of that side of things, and he's really close to having it finished - he's worked very hard to get it as good as he can, so it'll be worth the wait.

On my side, I've been getting map assets made and expanding the previous map into a much larger, more varied one. It may be done by the time the next update is released, but that depends how fast we get the launcher together. Gameplay wise, I've got the catching system in place. It doesn't have any calculations yet, nor the minigame I plan to incorporate, but it is functional and we can catch PKMN now. There's also a few new PKMN in-game such as Bulbasaur and Squirtle, and there are plans for Rattata and Pidgey to be added soon enough. Along with some technical fixes, there's the GUI, saving and loading stats, and changes to some of the control schemes.

Acaryus and Zielan have also been making models like crazy, so again, once we get the launcher working, we can start releasing new PKMN as soon as they finish. A few of us have also started looking into music production, so that may or may not be relevant in the future, it's too soon to tell.

The plan from here is to finish up that launcher, and once it's done, just throw out updates like crazy. We'll be able to release updates a lot faster and more conveniently to you guys that way, and then you won't have to wait for these bulky, monthly releases as you can just patch the game in a few minutes.

Until then, we'll keep releasing pictures of progress to hold you over and show that we're still here. Just know that even though we haven't been saying much, there is stuff going on behind the scenes, it's just taking some time. Either myself or Skatter will drop an update when the launcher is finished, and then we can really get this ball rolling. (Resisting to type "pokeball rolling" was harder than expected, but I'm generally not a punny guy.)

Edit: For the record, I didn't mean at all to dump all of this on Skatter. He really is doing an amazing job with the launcher, and he's doing so very quickly. I'm just saying that when that is finished, we will release whatever it is we have at the time, but until then, we're all still hard at work on our respective jobs.

Skatter really deserves his praises. He's been working like a machine on his launcher. Encountering numerous problems along the way, plummeting them one after one to the ground. He should really get credit here.. and don't you dare think that he's slowing down the update, that'd be an insult to his great effort to make it as smoothly working as he can while presentable to the eye!

There is no plans on starting a kickstarter for this?

Since I'm guessing you people would like to get paid for all your brilliant work?

As for rewards, you could just make non-stat changing rewards, like say for 10 dollars, you'd get to choose anyone of the starters from the 5 ( 6 ) Generations, instead of just the original three. / Shinies / Slightly altered Pokemon. ( Spiky eared Pichu-type of deal.)

Speaking of which, is there plans on including Pokemon from gen 3, 4 and five?

they cant have a kickstarter, or else Nintendo will issue a Cease and Desist, remember, Pokemon is still licensed by Nintendo, so they cant make a profit/gain money strictly from this project
As much as we like to donate to them to help and accelerate the creative process in anyways, i am afraid we cant :(

Unfortunately this is common misinformation on the internet, this game is still technically Trademark infringement whether they make money off it or not... As a Pokemon fan it makes me sad but I would hate to see the developer spend so much time on a game only to be closed down by Nintendo once it gets bigger. I hear they can be quite ruthless.

just played it a little if i can, can ii suggest you make the game have it so if choose an attack that you can keep it as that attack like 1,2,3,4 are one time shots but 5,6,7,8 you just keep using that attack until you use 5,6,7,8 again
anyways great game so far i love it

You should introduce destructible environments e.g trees falling and rocks being smashed (like battlefield physics)

I saw a video of this game on Youtube and gotta say I'm excited about it. I am not going to download it yet 'cause there really isn't a lot going on. I hope that soon there will be a level-up system, items to be found, towns and all that juicy stuff. I'm going to bookmark this page and check on updates here and there. So far, you have my attention.

Hey guys , you're doing a GREAT job so far and I'm eagerly waiting for the next release !.
I have a few ideas I thought I'd share with you :
*The ability to walk with ALL party Pokemon
*A camera in which you just move the mouse , not click and move it , much easier.
*A nickname system & a trading system
*Pokemon contests , including an online system (maybe even an online league ?)
*The ability to form parties and maybe even team battles (2 VS 2 and such)
*A battle system in which the player must confirm that he wants to battle , like "Battle request from ___ , [Accept] [Decline]"
