Hmm, looks quite promising! Although I hope you will to some degree continue on the old favorite IG: The Oppresion.

IG: The Oppression is still being worked on, and should be getting a 1.5 release "soon".

That's good news. I tried playing the current version of IG, but there were no active servers. The better RTS interface looks spiffy, too. :)

looks ok, but the engine is showing it's age ;)

looking great guys...and yeh as betel says it def doesnt look like crysis (not that i think anyone was expecting it to) but then again Iron Grip was never about the best graphics I can't wait to see more.

You guys are really doing a lot with id Tech 3!!! It looks great! Now I can't wait 'till final.... *sigh*

I bet someone is missing the Source engine.

I doubt it. I'm willing to bet they took the iD Tech route for a reason.

Yeah, they chose it because it was free, not because it was a good engine. Maybe they should have gone with the Torque engine.

How would the Torque engine be any better? With that said I would have loved to be able to play this on Crysis's engine.

They actually bought a commercial license for idTech 3. If they had used the GPL version, they would have to release the source code.

It has potential but I hope you guys modify the rendering code too. Add some nice lighting techniques and shaders and you've got a great looking game.

i'll probs get a load of negative votes here but isn't the cod series still built on an extremely modified ID tech 3 base? Not saying that you guys should get something cod4 standard just saying people shouldnt be so quick to bash old tech...look at the freespace 2 engine :D...keep those cogs churning guys.

COD4 isn't based on id tech anymore - the engine for it was developed in house at IW.

The original COD for PC used idTech 3, but the newer versions all use in house engines.

This is actually not true - there are far too many remnants of iD Tech 3 still in CoD 4. This is how cheat makers and hackers are finding it so easy to find the data they want - they're using the Quake 3 SDK as a reference.

thanks shee i got annoyed when IW claimed cod2 was based on a new proprietary engine...when in fact it was heavily modified id tech 3...and the following games still used the same one.

That's interesting. Kind of like how Source isn't entirely original, but has many ties to idTech 1 through Half-Life 1's engine. I guess you can't believe all the press releases, huh? :)

true although source was a major revision and while im not claiming that the CoD4 engine is the same as ID tech 3 it is far more similar than source was to Id tech 1...anyway yeh you are right i think a lot of devs claim things to be their own in house engines when in fact they are building from a base. I wonder if there is a set percentage of change that has to occur before they can claim that...anyway back on topic.

The overall quality is quite poor. The textures, lighting and models remind me of games over 3-5 years ago. Not much of a ground breaking mod to full game jump. You want yes men, look somewhere else, better to know that an honest opinion is given.

Sadly, I have to agree. It doesn't look as good as it's Source-based counterpart.

Although, I like Iron Grip. So if it's for a decent price (like most Indie games) I'll buy it anyways.

I agree too. It's looking rather poor and not even up to bargain-bin game standards. Still, I hope it's a success for you!

Quite aside from the technology, the art direction is stuck in the nineties too. Could there be much more brown in those screens?

Why bother working on a game when your mod failed?

I agree, the graphics aren't impressive. The low resolution textures mixed with idTech 3's distinct renderer give it the appearance of a Quake 3 mod. However, I imagine this is early in developement and look forward to polishing and enhancements. I like the gameplay ideas, too.

to tell you the truth the graphics look very poor it looks worse than some Half-life 1 mods. Good luck anyway.

Great work, you've managed to keep the style intact even if the visual quality has decreased (naturally, since you are using an older engine). Looking forward to more updates.

Is this going to be realeased tommorrow ? :S

It looks very good! I would buy it, if I knew many others would do so too, since your source mod of Iro Grip is very very dead for the moment..

The biggest error with Iron Grip: source was that the AI truly sucked, and it was very hard for the general to control the troops around..

But I might buy this game, hope you show some ingame videos soon!
