I recently stumbled across the CMU motion capture database, which is a collection of over 2500 free motion capture animations. I hadn't worked with motion capture before, so I thought I would try applying some of them to Robbert to see how they looked:
Be sure to check it out in HD!
There are some artifacts where the motion capture data doesn't work well with the new body, but for the most part it looks pretty decent. These animations are all retargeted automatically from the source skeleton to the unlabeled rabbit skeleton -- I can talk more about how that was done later if you are interested!
Track us on ModDB (visit our page)
nice but some animations are strange because of different rabit legs from human
RELEASE THIS!
Pre order and you can have access to the weekly (i think) alphas.
It will be released when it is ready.
Nice, but certain moves you have planned certainly won't be possible with mere motion capture. How will you accomplish that?
regular animator designed animations? They even have an ingame/engine animation editor haha.
much layering and some procedural I guess cos overgrowth team rock
What do you mean? If you have the motion capture equipment, I don't see what you couldn't do. It might involve a trip to your local trampoline club/ martial arts club, but this stuff looks really smooth.
Shame that stuff's expensive : (
very nice, love the animation @ 0:37 xD
hopefully you got some martial arts g's in your team ;)
It's getting really nice.
Why don't you guys build some 'rabit' legs so you can put your own legs inside them ?
these animations were captured at carnegie mellon. as far as i know, wolfire doesn't have access to any motion capture facilities for their own personal use.
Stupid me, I didn't read the full article, still I think my idea hold, if Wolfliner guys want some montion captured anims then need an 'rabit' 'exoskelton' at least for the legs
Interesting how well the animations from the rig work on this rig. Usually even slightly different rigs can have catastrophic results.
So i presume you guys will use some in the finished product as their free. Adds a lot more realism except of course that your main character is a rabbit. :)
Wow, cool mocap animations :P
0:39 Dat ***!
I am absolutely interesd. :)
Awesome! @ 0:27 he appears to be doing Tai Chi Chuan-fa (Chinese taoist internal martial art) movement 'kao' or 'shoulder stroke' ;-)
that looked really cool but the desire to have your own mo-cap studio is greater I think. Its a shame its not a cheap process else you could imagine just how awesome some indie games can be with Mo-cap animations. the CMU should suffice anyway.
I'd be interested to know if there were similar commercial databases.
Actually there are new ways to get a convincing motion capture at relatively low cost (1000-2000$), today.
If you look for freelance animators they could offer it at a even less price for the same quality... >_>
I know they are out there, hiding.
(buried)
******* furries
Yes yes whatever you say.
that wallkick the other day desperately needs better animation
Awesome. Do you attend, or have you attended CMU?
Nah, although I hear it is awesome
WOW!!! Very good...
This indeed has some very cool potential. Nice vid.
Most interesting,
Please reply to this message.
So these were from a library/database?
