Post news Report RSS I'mma climb right out of this grave.

I got inspiration again and things starting moving. I gave the first multiplayer level more detail to get it to be pretty much complete. Then I revamped an old level to try to improve its flow and change what I thought was wrong about it. After that, I tinkered around with the networking code and was trying to test it a few different ways to see how connected it really was. I was a little bit impressed with myself, it seemed to be much more complete than I had remembered. (beta testers needed)

"Concrete Jungle"

After that, I tinkered around with the networking code and was trying to test it a few different ways to see how connected it really was. I was a little bit impressed with myself, it seemed to be much more complete than I had remembered.
Then I made some improvements. I made sure to sync player positions on any abrupt changes (springs, explosions, gunshots), and had clients predict what would happen inbetween. I resync'd the up and down keys so now climbing ladders and swimming is correctly predicted.

Work in Progress "Forts"

I noticed that I went a little far with how well things were trying to sync, most of the features of my map editor have always worked in-game. Now they work in-game over the internet and the other person can see the changes. Hopefully I'll get some co-op map making going on in the future.

But what it really came down to was the playtests I did today. I rounded up a couple beta testers and got it up and running. The first test worried me a little bit because the movement was really choppy on my side but was clear on his. The second test was awesome because he lives closer to me and the networking started to work as expected. There are still a few kinks to work out but it is more than playable, it's actually fun.

Hopefully I can get a video of a playtest up here soon to show you guys the game as it was meant to be played, with other people.

Speaking of which, if you want to become a playtester: I really need some.
I currently have two confirmed testers and I'm going to need a lot more than that to really test out the experience. If you're interested, click here.
