Greetings Troopers!
While we investigate ways to deal with this pesky lack of an EA Master Server (there are a few interesting potential avenues we're currently looking into). I thought I'd treat the First Strike faithful to a new work in progress video on the Echo Base location that features in the much anticipated Battle of Hoth map. Yes, we're still working towards getting that out there despite the recent developments. Depending on how things go you can consider this something to look forward to in the future, or something that might have been under different circumstances. Either way I hope you enjoy the video, and this peek at what we have planned for this most iconic of Star Wars locales.
We've also included a number of screenshots to give you a taste of what you have to look forward to, because they just look so damned pretty.
I'm also going to take this opportunity to announce that I'll be stepping down as leader of the First Strike Mod Development Team. It has been a Hell of a ride over the years, but I feel my very limited free time to mod would be better spent working solely on the Battle of Hoth map's art assets rather than having to deal with the various issues involved with leadership, then perhaps this fabled Hoth map will sometime finally see the light of day. Additionally these new complications that have arisen call for a different more technical type of leader, and I'm sure he'll be along soon to introduce himself to you.
So, so long and thanks for all the fish (wrong franchise, I know), not to worry though, I'll certainly still be around.

Huh, it's great to hear you guys aren't quite stopping development yet. There's a few mods on EA games that have just packed in and given up in light of the Gamespy news.
