Post news Report RSS Ham and Jam November Update & Tons of Media

Apologies that we’re late with this update but I can actually say that it was because we were so busy working on the game. No kidding, October was crazy with the amount of stuff we were doing and with two regular playtests and a proper beta test team we’ve had lots of bugs and feedback to work through. Suffice to say we’re finally getting on top of them and each week we seem to be slowly ticking off more and more bugs as fixed than there are being added.

Beta testing has been excellent as now with more people in game we can really get a feel for how the maps work. Having twelve plus players is great for testing the maps and I’m pleased to say virtually all of them passed with flying colours, very little major redesigning was needed. The most that happened was one or two buildings would be opened/closed up or an objective moved 10m to the left or right.

During the last playtest we took hundreds of screenshots between us we’ve uploaded a selection to the Playtest Images page in the media section. Here’s a few as a taster.

Lastly some news on the team and status of the mod. We are still desperately looking for a few key team members. If we can fill these positions then we’d be able able to make the beta public rather than private.

The main issue is a legal one as at the moment we have “borrowed” some content from a couple of other Valve games as a stopgap. We can’t release the game while this content remains so until we can replace it all, it will be available to download. A big issue is the player models - we desperately need someone to help us complete our German player model as our current one is “on loan” from Day of Defeat.

The weapon models aren’t quite as much a problem but we do need someone to finish up the animations and texture them. Theres a lot of talented people out there and some excellent models available but sadly no-one seems to be interested in working for us. Maybe it’s a Catch22 situation - no-one wants to work on an unreleased game yet, without the help we can’t release!

So basically it comes down to you, in a way. Help us finish the artwork issues with HaJ and we can release!

On a positive note, as a small little token of our appreciation for your support, Spine has made some WW2 Ham and Jam branded desktops for you all, in both Axis and Allies flavour. We should say that just because they are the side of a plane and the side of a tank does not mean that we’re including drivable tanks or planes. It’s not some cryptic clue, just a nice bit of artwork :D

Haha, I love the name. "Ham and Jam!". Wasn't that the code words to say the British 1st Airborne had taken both the bridges intact on the far left (east) flank of the invasion force on D-Day? Pegasus Bridge?
