The third part of the Halfquake series has finally risen!

Posted by on

Finally, after roughly three years of development, the third part of the Halfquake series is available for download (Mirror #2, Mirror #3)! Here is a list of frequently asked questions.

What is it about?

As in the previous two parts, you once again play the role of a victim, thrown into a strange and deadly environment to suffer and die - for the entertainment of whoever is watching!

What is required to play?

Halfquake Sunrise is a Half-Life 1 modification and works with both the old WON Half-Life and the Steam version of it. Thus, you don't need a high-end PC.

How long is it?

It takes about four to five hours from beginning to end, depending on your skill.

Is it free?

Yes, both the modification and the soundtrack (Soundtrack Mirror #2, Soundtrack Mirror #3) are available for no cost at all.

Is it single-player only?

Yes!

Is there a walkthrough available?

No, but you can help unlock traps for hints or join the forums if you require aid in your progress.

Can I watch the trailer again?

You'll have to forgive me for gushing, but I had no idea this was even being developed. I LOVED the first two games, especially the second. I am beyond excited to play this installment.

Where can I find the original Half-Quake? I just got Amen, but want to get the first before I play any of them.

Scratch that, a further minute and I found a link. Here's hoping it's good.

This is the most creative mod in the history of Half Life... I'm still playing it. But I have faced great puzzles and challenges. Keep making great mods, guys!

Downloading now. Half-Quake Amen was probably my favorite Half-Life mod, so this should be a treat!

I just played it all through, and I can only say that it was awesome. It deviates from Amen quite a bit, but the references to the earlier ones are common, that mad me laugh quite a bit. And then there's also the funny voices and stuff.

While the level-design and map work was overall really nice, some areas appeared too dark, even on a higher brightness setting and a good monitor. Other then that though, I have no complaints.

I'm sorry but this is ******* me off. I downloaded this, put the hquake3 and the two .dll files folder into my "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\<account>\half-life source" folder. It doesn't show up on my Library, could it be because I'm running HL:S? Or is there even a difference?

It won't work on Half-Life Source. You need to use half-life.

Secondly, and on that note, I believe there is only one mod for Half-Life:Source, and it is nothing but a gallery showing people that it was possible to mod HL:S. Other than that, there are no HL:S mods.

On a mod-related note: Finished the game, but managed not to encounter two of the rooms shown in the advertisement video.

I got it installed... I also decided to check out the first game, Halfquake amen... all I have to say is that I love the style and how random it is...but it's just SO obscure that it becomes constant trial and error and that just gets frustrating and unpleasant. =/ I hope sunrise is better.
