Time for a new playthrough.
Quick question. Can I install it above v8 or do I need to delete v8 first?

Oh and could we have a little description of the differences between v9 and v8. So far I only know about animated items and AI's suppressive fire.

Anwser to the install, it installs to a GMDXv9 folder, v8 installed to "GMDX", so there is no overwriting. Think about uninstalling v8.

maybe Switch to D9 instead of D10

This. Different render devices can give different results, so the default GMDX v9 render device (being D3D 9) can cause issues for some.

Isn't it defaulted to D3D10? That would explain why it didn't run through its own executable for me (I had to use the third party launcher)

Disabling the New Vision directory in "Data Directories" in the launcher fixes this for me.

You don't get any New Vision textures, though.

From the look of the error, it's something to do with the directory path or filename of the new vision files - like it's looking for a substring in the path and not finding it. I have non-standard Steam install directory, not sure if that's related.

Are cheats/console commands possible to use with GMDX? Tried using the wiki here but it doesn't work. Deusex.wikia.com

There are two ways to activate cheats in Deus Ex.
1. Press T at any time in the game (except cutscenes), backspace Say, and then type
Set JCDentonMale bCheatsEnabledTrue
2. Edit the shortcut you use for GMDX, and put -hax0r (with the 0) before the INI= text. It should look like this. I.imgur.com

The second way gives you cheats permanently, unless you remove -hax0r from the shortcut.

So do I have to check the "Textures New Vision" in Data Directories, or are they purposedly left unchecked?

just 2 things i found out:

when you loot bodies you gain a random 1-4 ammo on everything (medium difficulty)
while 1 full clip would have been better like in many fps games... this gameplay choice doesn't go well with weapons who shoots many "bullets" per second, like a machine gun, or flamethrower...

in vanilla game i could loot 1 full flamethrower canister from a guard on level 2 battery park and use it till it depletes... now in the modded game i can loot the flamethrower from the body, but i gain only 1-5 shots out of 500 of a full canister... it just game a bit less fun.

you cannot gain ammo from a body, if you do not make space in inventory... like if you wanna gain 1 napalm canister you need to get space for the flamethrower
weapon in your inventory

oh and btw i think the neat hack perk doesn't work, tried when looting hacking an atm, and couldn't gain more money than what you gain at master level hacking. (without neat hack perk)

"in vanilla game i could loot 1 full flamethrower canister from a guard on level 2 battery park and use it till it depletes..."

This is false. Vanilla has always given randomized 1-4.

yes... you are correct sorry.

i checked better... i noticed that in the vanilla game there are more items and ammunition scattered in the level and you took some of them away. I also was used to play shifter and i didn't realize the "random inventory" was made by mod author and not in vanilla. with random inventory you gain 1 extra item per looted body, which can be ammo, weapon mod, or even a nano upgrade cannister... or a grenade... any kind of grenade... i noticed the difference...

I get an error-message: "GMDX.exe is not an allowed win32-application"
(i get it in my language: "GMDX.exe ist keine zulässige Win32-Anwendung").

my Deus Ex = 1112fm (English)
my RAM = 4 GB
my OS = Windows XP 32bit with ServicePack 3

Maybe the mod is a 64-bit-application. When: Why?

Sam issue as you. The GMDX exe seems to be to be compiled 64bits, that or the mod tries to launch using the D3D10 dll.

Fortunately you don't need the mod's binary to play it, you can either launch the game like any other mods if you know how to, or use this Kentie.net
(version 5.3, later versions are Vista+ only)

Yes if you have a old Win OS pre-vista grab the older version of kenties, rename it to GMDX.exe, then launch from the Play_GMDX shortcut as normal.

i figured out why i found ammonition scarce in this mod, other than taking some of them away, i was used with shifter mod which adds a random inventory loot each time you loot a body, and also boost the number of ammunition looted.

Yeah, shifter gave you tons of ammo when vanilla already gave more than enough. GMDX has roughly the same counts as vanilla, except on Hardcore mode.

Dear SPTX, thank you very much for your help!

After a looong search i have found the requirements for the GMDX-mod: It needs the Windows-Vista-Systems. XP is not supported.

But the GMDX-mod functions with the Kentie-thing. In the Kentie-thing i have had to change the renderer from Direct3D to OpenGL. All right now. I have it. Yeah! I will play it in the next days.

Thanks again.

Hi there!. Your work with this mod is awesome. But, playing with it, I had a problem. The screen freezes in the maintenance area (after I've killed Anna Navarre and I've been imprisoned) while music is still playing. I tried changing a lot of things, but they didn't work.

What can I do?

Thanks.

P.S: Sorry for my bad English.

Hello there. As far as I understand, this version of GMDX should have russian in it, right? So I install DX from Steam, then GMDX 9.0, then even the patch, then I finally launch it - and, holy blin, it's all unreadable, there's probably no correct russian fonts anywhere in GMDX's directory. What am I supposed to do to solve this unpleasant problem?

UPD: Now that I have already found some fan-made fonts, I'm happy to fully enjoy GMDX. Totalitarian, please notice this: make sure such trouble happens no more and include some fonts. Thank you for your work, maen.

Thanks. Yes you have to have the respective localized version of Deus Ex itself beforehand, or download fan translations. GMDX language support is only for GMDX-specific features.
