YES. It's done. Wow. Crazy. Seriously though it's kind of hard to imagine given that it's been 3 years now, but yes the download is now up here and on the Frictional Games Forums.
As some of you may know it actually was up for about 2 hours a week ago but some issues came up that we hadn't experienced that were pretty game breaking so we had to take it down (had to do with the 1.3 patch). Similarly, we kind of busted our asses over the past 6 days to fix everything up just so we could get it back up. But I promised myself this would be the year I released it last January and we made it with only 3 hours to spare.
As a result we kind of rushed to fix up a lot of issues and I'm sure there's still a few left in there that we're not totally aware of, but for the most part this version should be ready to go. Expect updates in the coming weeks though with fixes.
Also on a somewhat related note, Logan put up the official soundtrack on his Bandcamp a few days ago! It's some really incredible stuff, coming from someone who listens to a lot of ambient music, this is some pretty top notch stuff for the style he's going for. Go download it and throw him a few bucks.
With all that said I hope all of you enjoy what we've made here. It's been a long ass time coming and I've been through SO much for this project but I really think it'll all pay off.
Will I need patch 1.3 to play this?
Yes.
****, and I've been looking forward to this actually...
it won't mess anything up with your root amnesia folders if that's what you're worried about
Well it did **** me up big time when I was getting the Premonition custom story.
And I don't like re-installing my game, since I've plenty of custom files in there, it's a lot of moving.
I agree it can be a hassle. I think the best option is to have a second, separate install of Amnesia patched to 1.3, that way you can play this (as well as other mods such as Necrologue which require the update) and keep all the 1.2-based custom stories in your old install. Just a thought. Good luck!
The thing is that i played Necrologue back when they didn't "fix it up" and it worked just great for me, I've had fun with it. (I feel like I was one of the few who installed it properly)
And for any mods that I'll be making, will defiantly not required this damn patch.
and when I have repeated files (like 2 separate install) I get very confusing issues and a low fps for anything.
I hope you'll also have a version that doesn't required that patch.
I don't know what it is with update 1.3 for you. I've had no problems, even with my custom story, and if you're worried about losing your custom content, you could try backing everything up and putting the custom content back in after you've updated.
I don't claim to know that that would work for you, but if you haven't tried yet, it's worth a shot.
It's cuz I've had it before, and it messed with my game play pretty bad. and it's just annoying to re-back up all that stuff, as I keep getting new entities, sounds, music, etc.
For the sake of not missing out on future custom stories, I would seriously recommend setting time aside to get it to work. If you really don't want to, that's fine, but don't expect developers to downgrade their custom stories for you.
Hell, even I'll probably end up using the new scripts.
I wouldn't call it down grading, so many amazing things have been done without that patch. And I'm not a programmer, I'm level designer and a writer, so I wouldn't understand how to use "the new scripts" anyhow.
We may look into a 1.2-compatible version in the future, if enough people turn out with the same issues. Right now though the focus is on this current release and any potential patches/updates it might need.
What's getting in the way of updating?
