The Battlefield 2 1.5 patch causes multiple things to break in Allied Intent Xtended 2. However, one of the AIX devs, Ti_GER arn354, has made a hotfix that should fix these problems when you are trying to play co-op. The changes are:

The deployable mortar has been disabled - any attempt to select it will result in the previous weapon being re-selected.

Under
BF2 1.5 online, no ammunition magazine may contain more than 1023
rounds. The AH-1X, A-10, A-10b, AH-64, AH-64 Gunship,Rooivalk, Yak-38
and Blizzard all broke this rule by varying degrees, but now have a
maximum of 1000 rounds in the offending magazines. A side-effect is that
the ammo-bar for an affected magazine will only fill up to the level
set by the new 1,000 round limit, and so may not look completely full.

Please read further information about it and download it here: Battlefieldsingleplayer.com

The SP stats/server launcher was never fully finished. Best to just run the game like normal instead of using the stats program.

There's a Mortar fix in an unofficial patch.
Moddb.com

If you still have issues with the mortar then you may need to edit your install yourself. It's the ammo count that causes it to crash, edit that to acceptable levels and it should be OK (see the above details of description).

Other than that if the mod is installed correctly then AIX2 should run fine. I run it in XP and WIN7 no probs on multiple PCs via LAN for hours no crashes. Every PC is different and thus user know-how and determination is a big part of being able to install and use mods. If one is willing to master the craft of modding then one can reap the rewards of the hobby. :)

That's not a problem with the mod, that's a problem with your BF2 Install or Hardware/OS. I run fine on Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

one thing about windows 7 - this applies to any older games, not just BF2/AIX - is to not use the default install path. make yourself a Games folder or similar and install your games in there instead, if you don't let it install into the 'Program Files' or 'Program Files (x86)' folders then hopefully your BF2-startup-crash troubles will disappear

the problem is the !.50, so downgrade bf2 to 1.41 and the mortar should work fine. otherwise dont use it!

Actually, it IS possible to use the M224 Mortar in BF2 patch v 1.50. Heres how to: go to C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\AIX2, then use Winrar/7Zip to open Objects_server>weapons>stationairy>m224_mortar, then open m224_mortar.tweak WITH NOTEPAD. Then, use CTRL+F and find "ObjectTemplate.createComponent SoldierBasedRecoilComp", and type a "rem" infront of it so it looks like "rem ObjectTemplate.createComponent SoldierBasedRecoilComp". Should be fixed now, and the game no longer CTD when using the mortar

I really think it's effin' stupid that no one is replying to THE MOST common problem here and in any other BF2 forums. Which is, WHY does the game ALWAYS CRASH whenever we start a singleplayer/multiplayer match? Granted, this is an OLD mod AND BF2 is an old game but still, it's being played by a lot of people. Not to mention this is like the 2nd most highest rated mod for Battlefield 2 here on moddb. And yet the people who can play this mod or the admins are either ignoring us or just plain a-holes since absolutely NO solutions have been provided for it yet. (Except reinstalling both the game or the mod)

I've been searching for solutions on the internet, and all of them date back to the 2009's. Which of course discredits them since, most likely, a lot of things from the mod have changed by now. I really find the lack of support from the admins and fellow gamers for this mod really irritating. Considering the top class support we get from really old but still updated FH2 and PR mods, not that i'm comparing or anything. BUT 2ND HIGHEST RATED MOD IN MODDB. Doesn't that warrant a bit of an indication that this mod is legitimately high quality? And not some really confusing and broken down mess?

Entitlement isn't a virtue. Yes the AIX2 team shared this great mod with us, but they were not **required** to do so.

Neither are they **required** to answer all our questions, especially when it's the same one that has been asked over and over and answered over and over again. Doing due diligence and searching for the answer via google doesn't take long.

The AIX2 team retired almost a decade ago. They left this mod in fine shape, I can play it with multiple PCs in a LAN setting, all with different OS versions for hours without any crashes.

It all comes down to the individual user really. Modding is a hobby that requires a bit of effort on the side of the user. Do the homework and put forth the effort then one can reap the rewards.

you need to patch your bf2 to bf2 1.4.1v or higher to use AIX, i guess it's work for me but crash imidiately after you push sp/mp button.
gud luck with that.

Does anyone know how to fix the custom map crash for windows 7/XP? AIX 2.0 works fine for me. It's wonderful! But when I add any maps to the Mods/AIX/Levels folder, it mostly crashes when loading the map. Or sometimes it even lets me past the load screen, but then as soon as I chooses a spawn point and click 'Done' it CTD's. It has even stopped letting me play a vanilla map (Great Wall)!

This is extremely infuriating because seemingly all video tutorials give the most basic explanation of how to put a simple file into a simple folder. Useless! I've read some help, but still no luck. You'd think this would be a fairly easy fix, I mean some of the maps FULLY LOAD for dogs sake!
Also worth noting is the lack of any error message, it just goes black for a second, then desktop.

I feel as though I am missing something in another folder (perhaps to do with soldier/AI skins?), because some of these maps appear to have factions I've never seen (not EU,US,CH,or MEC). Any useful help is MUCH APPRECIATED, by more than just myself I'm sure!

A few things I've tried: Turning off CPUs in Task Manager. Different Compatibility Modes, -OR- Compatibility Mode Off. I've tried turning off Anti-Aliasing in BF2 AIX (already off).
