Post news Report RSS First public build

I've just posted a public build of the game in its current state.

Still got a long ways to go, but also have 24 days to do it. You can play the build here: Cityfortyone-mattgreer.dotcloud.com

Opening scene

Some game play

So far there is one level that's kind of fun, and also pretty hard. The level design needs a lot of work. Also have checkpoints in place, the how to play screen, and a bit more polish here and there.

Pretty cool so far! I do think it feels ever so slightly sluggish at the moment though, which I suspect is probably down to the slow rate of acceleration for the player.

When you're zipping along at top speed and pulling off long jumps it feels great, but as soon as you have to change direction you slow right down and it kills it a bit, for me anyway.

I think I'd prefer it if it were quicker to get to top speed (and then perhaps the difficulty would have to be adjusted to compensate).

Hey thanks for the feedback! Sorry for the late reply, I just saw these comments.

Yeah the physics definitely need more work. If you play the game now I think they are improved over what they were when I made this first release. But still not quite there. I agree with how fun the long jumps are, which kind of got nerfed recently :-/ Hard to strike that balance.

It's still up at: Cityfortyone-mattgreer.dotcloud.com

No worries! I think I actually played the most recent version, but found it from this old article for some reason!

Just tried it out, looks good :-) I agree with CrowbarSka thought, that the acceleration should be increased a bit. With this slow turning speed it leaves very little margin for error when you need to turn around and jump quickly. - Apart form that I like the graphics and sounds :-)

Thanks! I've gotten a ton of feedback on the physics, and almost everyone has different opinions :) Without a doubt the physics as they stand now will change.
