Howdy folks - just got finished putting together the latest news update over at the Firearms: Source Homepage going over one of our newest weapons, the M16A2. Modeled by SiD, skinned by Stoke and animated by Thisismyname, I have to say, it's a beauty! Unlike most of our other weapons, which are typically full-auto capable, the M16 is limited to semi and burst. Makes it a little more difficult to use, but it's a little cheaper than the other rifles as a result and also has some nice accuracy boosts much like the M16 in our original title. So far it seems well-liked as a niche weapon among the testers and a few people have truly fallen in love with it, which I take as a good sign looking forward to release day.
We asked a few of the alpha testers to provide feedback on the M16 for the purpose of this news thread. U4, a former Army Infantryman, OIF veteran and one of FAS's military advisors had this to say:
"I actually like it [the M16] because since you gotta fire all 30 rounds one click at a time, you're typically still shooting at the guy after he's reloaded twice. That's when I get killed 95% of the time...reloading. I wish REAL M16's were as awesome as ours...".
Long-time FA veteran Mirsky chimed in with his own opinion:
"M16 - smoother than a cashmere codpiece".
(There were also comments on frogs, New Jersey and DysPatch... I'll spare you the pain, though).
No, our M16A2 currently doesn't come with an M203, either by default or with a skill. It's something we're looking at for the future but won't be a part of Release Candidate 1.0. Those crying foul over the M16 not being full-auto like it was for oldschool FA1, well, rest assured we have plenty of other full-auto weapons including the M16's younger and smaller brother the M4A1.
Alright Hitman, that's all great - but just one gun in the update? How's progress coming along in general? Well, I'd love to go into a lot more detail about all of these things, but I'll save that for another time. :-) Stay tuned, as we plan on doing these showcases much more often from now on and all the way up until release. Also, be sure to thank Thisismyname for the awesome animation job if you happen to run across him in IRC - he's been working his ass off getting us these new weapons to test for the private alphas.

Looks good except your blood color seems a bit, non blood color lol other then that cant wait to play :D (watch out for the crazy ppl who are gana start bitching soon) *runs*

the game seems like it be sick but if the blood is purple it should be killed off and raped by bubba in the prision shower

Wow, I love the weapon model.. And the Ingame screenshots are awesome <3. I can't wait to play this :)
As a play tester I can assure you the blood is red.
