A look into the past and the future of the mod, for the new year.

Mod of the Year!

SWAT: Elite Force made it into Moddb's Mod of the Year spot, at #10. We also won Editor's Choice for Singleplayer mods. Thank you everyone for your votes. They certainly paid off! It's the first time that a SWAT 4 mod has been recognized as such, and hopefully we can reach higher for next year.

2018

In case you didn't realize it already, Happy New Year! 2018 is going to be a peak year for SWAT. In particular, we're going to focus on a few things:

  • Future Elite Force versions (of course)
  • The SWAT 4 + Elite Force Wiki (detailed below)
  • A new Patreon campaign (detailed below)
  • Bringing more people into SWAT 4

In 2017, we saw SWAT 4 get put on GOG.com, Elite Force got some huge upgrades, and SWAT 4 got many articles done about it on major websites. Let's carry that momentum into 2018!

The SWAT 4 Wiki

Many people didn't know about this, but there is actually a SWAT 4 Wiki filled with all kinds of information about levels, equipment, and even the characters you'll run into in the missions. However, we could always use a helping hand there. I was waiting on announcing the wiki on Moddb until there was a reasonable enough amount of content, but there is quite a lot of information!

Thanks of course to Trev421, LeRutY and all of the other people who have contributed on the wiki.

Patreon Campaign

Thanks to my Patreon contributors, we were able to help ValeRa purchase servers for a recent Barricaded Suspects tournament. This inspired me to start a new campaign. I want to purchase some official servers for SWAT: Elite Force. My current idea is to purchase servers on MarkMods.com and run an SEF Official NA, and an SEF Official EU. Currently I have enough patrons to fund just one of these servers at 10 slots, or both of these servers at 5 slots. Ideally, I would like to have both of these running at 16 slots. We will need roughly $50/month to have both of these servers at 16 slots.

On top of the good feeling you get from donating to us, you'll also get your name in the credits and/or a fancy Discord role. For more information, check out the Patreon page.

v7 news?

I took a small break from SWAT related stuff over the holidays and will be sharing information about the next cool stuff that will come, as it is made. No need to worry! The next version is still several months away as we are focusing on adding some really solid new features to the game. The new weapons are just the first piece of the new changes.

Hello! Happy New Year! I will be glad if there will be an opportunity to use other languages in fashion. If you run a game with another language, then the error goes out gui_tex file mismatch. It is necessary to change back the language in the files Swat4x.ini and Swat4xDedicadedServer.ini from rus to int. all the good days.

Awesome mod.
Great atmosphere and tension.
Even the old graphics hold up pretty well. Clean and clear, and the lighting is simple but well done.

The only thing that brings it down a notch are the weapon models and textures. They are right in your face and very 2005. And though I love the iron sights, the extra zoom just blocks more of the screen with the low res rear sight.

Though it seems that these issues will be gone in 7!
Can't wait!

This has become my new favorite game!
Some suggestions:
1. Speed up the transition to iron sights. There's a slight animation/transition that just makes it too slow to use practically.

Also remove/reduce the iron sight zoom.

New, higher rez gun models/textures would be a huge improvement. Anyway to import from the huge stock available for games like CS?

Hi, I've tried the v6.4 and I found some issues:

1. Sometimes when I and my teammate deployed a lightstick, it just go through the floor mesh and not hitting it. It's happens in some maps, I remember experiencing that on Duplessi's Diamonds Center.
2. Fix MP5SD6's iron sight. I was aiming fine with any weapon's iron sight but MP5SD6's is really confusing.

I hope you can fix that all of those issues I found. And it would be cool if we have ballistic mask and some new gears on v7.0 ;)

Nice work on the mod, still add the
interaction to "slap shoulder of friend" from Arma 3

Hi there,
Are there any plans to make SEF VR ready? Think this fits perfectly fine and would increase immersion
dramatically.
Cheers
Flex

Please, please add new skins for co-op like remake mod has, some of the skins could be SAS, GSG9, GIGN, FBI, LAPD, NYPD, Chicago PD, Boston PD. etc.

Very fun mod but I am having a few bugs. Lightsticks go through the floor sometimes, also when im playing with friends they cant always see the dropped weapons or the drugs

Same here. Probably should stick to the default drop lightstick style, instead of treating it as a grenade and clipping through the floor.

I wrote earlier about a large So Cal police agency proposing to use this mod for official police training. We are really close to making this happen, but I could really use some help to ensure they buy off on it. A generic patrol officer uniform would be helpful, but the key for us are additional suspect weapons. The addition of a knife or a metal pipe being used by the suspects and not only firearms would compel officers to assess the appropriate force option to use. Without these options, many risk managers will only think this is limited to a "shootem up" game. This has real potential to fill in a training gap in police work and if our agency goes with it, I can see it setting a trend in training for many CA police agencies, which may lead to direct support for the creators of the mod. Can't promise anything of course, but I think it's possible. Any thoughts?
