To help celebrate the completion of our third development lan, Team Dystopia would like to pimp a handful of screenshots captured during our last play test session. Hopefully these early screenshots will help stir up interest from gamers who are looking for mod with fresh, action packed team play.
In the first screenshot we see a Corps medium augmented player. Crystalmesher and Caliban worked hard to get this excellent model in game for Dev Lan. I'm sure you'll all agree it looks sensational and really fits our Dystopian cyberpunk theme. The green rectangle highlighting the model is an example of how you'll see friendly players when using the I.F.F (Identify Friend / Foe). The players implants are displayed at the top left of the HUD.
Our second and third featured screenshot are both of the same section of play; the first view with I.F.F on and the second with the Thermal Vision implant active. Have a close look and count the number of warm bodies in that last shot. Look closely in the first screenshot and you should be able to spot the sneaky hacker jacking in.
If you're liking what you're seeing, be sure to check out the rest of the shots in our WIP Screenshots media gallery.
very nice, the CS hands should be beefed up some but Nice job so far.
I take it that the heat thing is just a skin for each thing?
If so Id make the engine handle brushes as a clear blue texture, not just an alpha blue.
excellent progress, really is *thumbs up
glad i modwatched this.
looks cool although i would make the guns blue too, usually they arent hot, and if they are its more or less only the barrel ;)
Looking good, the maps and hands/weapons need a little tweaking ;)
im astonished at your progress, i'll watch this one!
i'm astonished too... gone are the days where it takes years for the first mod to be released!
damn quick!
Thanks for the feedback guys. Just a couple of comments; we're only just beginning to replace the place holder HL2 models.
During the dev lan we worked on getting a couple of our player models in and working and a few of our weapon models. We haven't replaced the CS hands and animations as of yet, rest assured Dystopia is a total conversion and as such we're aiming to use as little HL2 assets as possible.
Secondly, we're currently apply the same Thermal texture to all models, which is why the colours don't correctly line up with the hot/cold spots on the models. As we continue in development we'll be adding unique thermal textures to all models in the game which will have "realistic" thermal patterns on them.
Be sure to pop into our forums, over the next couple of days we'll be leaking out a few more screenshots from the dev lan: Dystopia-mod.com
