A short discussion on the first beta of doom the tei tenga incident, and the creation of the first doom bible mod with a complete first episode

Posted by on

It has been a long time since the doom bible was wrote by tom hall in 1992, before leaving id software due to differences over dooms direction. In 2000 the doom bible was released on doomworld.com to coincide with the fifth anniversary of doom. After the point several mods for several source ports, and even quake have attempted to create a mod or game based on the doom bible. None have completed an entire episode that is playable from start to finish. Until today.

Today i am proud to announce the first beta of doom the tei tenga incident, the first doom bible mod to complete and release an entire episode. Almost 23 years in the making, a doom bible mod that is able to be played like the first episode of the doom bible. But dont take my word for it. Take a look for yourself.

The beta is now up on the download page, go ahead and give it a play through, beat the bruiser brothers, and be one of the first people to beat a doom bible mods first episode.

There will be Coop maps made for coop, but you can load episode one up in coop right now. Also the more players, the more feedback i get, the better this becomes, so please play it.

When I have time. Way too busy with life. :(

BTW, are you planning to use Doomsday Engine? I can't stand old sprites. :(

This is a great mod! Really like the added lighting, weapon effects, and maps! It would be great to see the id team reacting to this, commenting on it. I hope they check it out! I have not had a single problem yet, I'm on the fourth level, I like the ability to return to previous maps also. Really hope you get some airtime on websites so people can see your work.

Also, I'd like to see you take on Quake from it's earliest design, it was supposed to be you against a small number of powerful enemies, and you could be knocked down. I'd love to play a mod like that!

Some things to report. I'm using gzdoom-bin-2-0-05. Only problems I have seen is an exclamation sign that occurs occasionally in the map maybe to tell you some object is not there, one was on Waste map.
A couple of rooms you can get stuck in, unless I just couldn't figure how to get out. One was in Quart I think.
Very solid for a beta, not any real problems to report. I have all the keys and I am backtracking now to doors that I needed keys to. Not to spoil anything for anyone, there are some really cool things in the maps look everywhere! This is a great mod, really well done!

I finished the first chapter, really great mod! I think the original design for Doom was great, nice to see it actualized. The new monsters and weapons are amazing!
I also updated to a newer Gzdoom gzdoom-g2.1.pre-1354 after I searched and found it. My having a old version might have caused a few exclamation signs in the levels.
I can't wait for the next chapters!
