Development update

We worked on a lot of things in the last week:

  • First week on Greenlight
  • Music
  • Designed 2 levels (screenshots below)

First week on Greenlight

We started on Greenlight last tuesday. The first week has been great, we have had a positive reception and people have even offered to help us out with testing and translations. Everyone really likes our cranky sheep, so we are putting together a little contest. If you haven't voted yet, you can still vote here: Vote on Greenlight.

Music of Kyn

The music of Kyn is composed by Will Bedford. I asked Will to put some tracks on soundcloud for your listening pleasure. Every track has dynamic layers that we use depending on the mood. We have layers for when you are exploring, in combat, entering a peaceful village, or when sad things happen. Will also composes the music for TinyKeep, a cool procedural dungeon brawler that you should definitely check out!

Level design

Besides Greenlight, we have been working on one of the castles in the game and one of our sand/beach environments. Usually we start with a small mockup environment to set the tone for the level and then we use this as a template for the rest of the level. The beach environment is absolutely massive and placing all the rocks by hand has proven to be quite the challenge to my work ethic.

Great job with the lighting and well done on the greenlight! Placing those rocks by hand sounds really riveting LOL. Thats dedication. How many rocks are we talking here?

Hahaha, I don't know, it must have been thousands, if not tens of thousands. At this point I think I have truly mastered the art of placing rocks.
