Dev Update III: Ship lists and Cardassians
Hello ModDB community, today I'm revealing a big list and some other news! You already know how many era's you're getting in our first release, but what you didn't know yet is how many ships you'd be getting! What I'll be revealing is the complete list of buildable combat ships for the Federation. I will also be talking about the Cardassians, which is the second race we will be focusing on. But now time for the info you've been waiting for... the ship list!
Federation Ship List:
TLE era:
Corvette: Hermes, Polaris, Centaur
Frigate: Miranda, Lantree, Saratoga, Soyuz
Destroyer: Constitution-Refit, Geronimo-Refit, Korolev-Refit
Cruiser: Constellation, Marco Polo, Trident
Heavy Cruiser: Excelsior, Excelsior Refit, Curry
Battleship: Ambassador, Ambassador-Refit
TNG era:
Corvette: Cheyenne
Frigate: Freedom
Destroyer: Springfield, Challenger, New Orleans
Cruiser: Niagara, Rigel
Heavy Cruiser: Nebula, Phoenix, Melbourne
Battleship: Galaxy, Venture
DS9 era:
Corvette: Nova, Rhode Island
Frigate: Saber, Defiant
Destroyer: Steamrunner, Norway
Cruiser: Intrepid
Heavy Cruiser: Akira, Typhon, Prometheus
Battleship: Sovereign
ALL these ships are currently INGAME and buildable.
We are hard at work to add new Technologies and Weapons to make them playable, and we'll have a lot of information about that very very soon!. We are also working on making sure that the entire experience works and looks like a professional Star Trek game!
Now... about those Cardassians!
As you may or may not have seen before, we've added the Cardassian protraits. What we have done is taken the original human portraits and we have hand drawn the Cardassian facial features and uniforms, we didn't just take a picture and crop it and bend it because what we want to do is deliver quality! Quality that is consistent across our entire mod.
Now its time to show off a new Cardassian ship design, this is not a ship previously seen in our Armada 3 mod this is a unique design made specifically for our Stellaris mod!
I introduce you to the Vantar Heavy Cruiser, a TLE era Cardassian ship!
As an added bonus, here is an image of the nearly completed full Cardassian TLE era fleet!

Just one question: Will it be possible to build a fleet which consists of ships of 2 different eras? I'm worried that you wont be able to mix up for example a galaxy class and a defiant, which would be a real shame :)
Yes it will be very possible. The system is going to be designed so that ships can be refitted with the newest weapons and tech. It's just going to be the case that the newer hulls will be more capable than their older counterparts.
Will the AI always use the best available? or will we see a mix of ships in their fleets?

Sweet! like the fed list, so wheres the rest i personally would like to see the Romulans list or you guys have hammer them out on what ships?
Is the ambassador refit based on the studio model changes when for when zhukov and yamaguchi appear?

Looking forward to this, but I do have a question : is there any way I can contribute? I`ve done a tiny bit of modding to Stellaris for my own use, and i loved what you did with Sins.

While the Definat is officially classified as escort ship, unofficially its a Warship.
ST Armada 1 and 2 made a weak Defiant variant.
Will your Defiant class be as tough as in the series? Better then Galaxy, weaker then Sovereign?
