Release
The first patch to Cry of Fear is now finally released! It should make the mod more stable and fix a lot of annoying bugs that we sadly didn't have time to fix because of our promise to release the mod in time.
Status
We've got a lot nice feedback from all of you, and most of it is so awesome! We are really glad that most of you enjoyed our mod! Even though there are a few people giving the mod unserious reviews like rating it 1, but oh well, that's what haters and trolls are for, isn't it?

Cry of Fear v1.0
For you who have not yet tried Cry of Fear, please download it from here down below:
Instructions for installing Cry of Fear v1.0
1. Make sure you have Half-Life 1 installed on Steam.
2. Download Cry of Fear here: Moddb.com
3. When you have installed it, launch the mod through the shortcut that automatically gets generated on your desktop.
Patch v1.1
This patch includes a lot of fixes that most people have been annoyed at. Here are the bugs that are fixed: MISC FIXES 1. Launch the CoF app program (the shortcut that generates on your desktop when you install Cry of Fear). If you don't have the shortcut, you can manually find the .exe in this directory:
MAJOR FIXES
Instructions for installing Patch v1.1
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\yourusername\half-life\CryOfFear\
2. Once your launch program is up, simply click "CHECK FOR UPDATES", and it will download it and install it for you automatically. Once the install is done, restart Steam.

downlaoded the new patch, but mine still crashes on the train when the second monster smashed the window :(:( :( cant get past it !! :(
also i have collected 2 unlockables, but it still says i have none :(
the unlockables are locked till you finished the game once i've heard. did you restart steam after patching like mentinoed from the updater? also started the game through the launcher after restart of steam?
ohhh okay :) yeah restarted steam and my computer, and launched it through the launcher, still isnt working for me

Ah, love how you can dual wield the vp70, but I found a bug with that:
If dual weilding with glock and glock runs out of ammo before vp70, the vp70 will not fire even with bullets still in the magazine, and the glock will play the normal idle(non-empty) if you try to dry fire it while this glitch happens
People saying the mod deserves a 1/10 aren't trolls, their opiinions differs from yours and if that is how they feel, so be it. Calling them haters isn't any better either, you either like something or you don't. You can't call someone a name because they are impartial to something you like or have made.
But that's just me and id give the mod an almost perfect score- basing that only on an hour of gameplay. I am happy about the patch and can't wait to beat the game. Good work my good sir.

5/10 is base score. Basically, any game that works, and functions as intended, is a 5/10.
Except for the one guy who gave it a 5/10 but then said stuff like
"People who are giving this a 10/10 are probably children who have no idea how to review a game. This game is not a 10/10, nor is it 9/10."
AND
" I have beaten the game now, and my rating will not change, people who are down-rating this post are idiot fanboys who don't want to admit this game is sub-par."

I voted 1 at first simply bec. I was in an outcast mood but after playing the game bug free so far I changed my vote haha can't believe that was possible at moddb and gave it a 10. awesome work indeed on an old engine that just won't die LoL! You guys made it look a little bit more better.
Now see, this is why people make a distinction between fan reviews and critical reviews.
To vote 1 or 10, that is the question..
No. 5/10 means a game is average, run of the mill, nothing special or awful. Even so, some people couldn't launch the mod when it was first released, so that justification fails.
I've not played enough to review the game. I plan to do a video review of it.
It's hard to bash a game that is basicly free, but at the same time, it was super hyped. So most reviews are going to worthless fanboys vs trolls. At the same time, I'd imagine there are going to be some people who are disappointed, and some who love it. I'm with vcc2cc in that saying ANYONE who didn't give it a perfect score is automatically a troll is just as bad as the trolls saying anyone who gives a positive review is a fanboy.
People who rate this mod below 7/10 don't understand the game or are just too scared/hate it because of the bugs/are trolls.
An objective view is enough for an intelligent person, to see how much CoF continues to expand GoldSrc's assumed limitations.
Its not that they are giving the mod low ratings, its the reasons. Most of them are because of bugs and issues they faced or a certain feature they didn't like.

You need to buy Half Life 1 on Steam or apply your Half Life CD serial key to you Steam account to get Half Life on Steam.

As for this patch, yeah, it fixed all the crashes and issues I was having. Very nice patch.
Guys/gals, please forgive my noob-ness but does anyone know if there is a chance this will be available for Mac users as well? I looked everywhere for an answer before I posted this but couldn't find one. Thanks.

I have a problem on chapter three. I've just gotten round the thing growing out of the ground and three zombies run towards me. It crashes everytime I'm there and I can't really get round it.

Can you add a manual download for the patch? The launch app isnt working for me even though I have microsoft whatever 4.0. It has never worked on my computer, so.... it would be great if you could post a manual download.

No manual patches, ever, only makes it easier for the Non-Steam ijits to play.
Of course someone will probably post one eventually. Also, you can't get the launch App to work? That's very odd man...
The launch app seems to be a problem for alot of people. I don't see why it's required.
The Launch App has special fixes in it to make the mod not crash and run better on certain levels.
Hence why, some people launch it directly from Steam, and it crashes, most developers tell them to run the launcher, as it contains special fixes.
