Claiming Xodius is a game that has been in development since the beginning of 2013. It is nearly time to share the game publicly and get some feedback. Because of a lack of resources, the early release will only be available on windows computers. In the future, it will be on Mac and Linux computers, and possibly other platforms because of the rad porting potential of Game Maker: Studio.
The demo has been posted! You can play through the first 3 areas of the game which should be around 2-3 hours of game play. And soon , I'd like to get it on Desura to help fund the game. The Desura version will have 6 areas (60+ maps) to adventure through with more to come. If you beat the game and claim Xodius, you'll have a tool (which will persist across all saves) that you'll learn more about in the future!
You can check out the video below if you're interested in some game play. Please note that this is an older video

Looking neat!
The perspective reminds me of Boktai.
nice one :) few things looks like from secret of mana.
Please consider releasing on Indiegamestand.com as well! They have a really great and easy to use store for both developers and customers.
Good luck with the release regardless, this game looks pretty cool!
Hey, really considering indiegamestand. Just got to get some important things squared away before that can happen
Cool game! Nice music, great visuals, interesting world and minimal story which makes it very intriguing.
Party combat is just a mess though, can't say I love the combat and movement system which is locked into 4 directions in a isometric fashion, with players and mosnters moving too fast as you progress further.
Was also hoping there was more to the game mechanics, such as wood cutting, farming, sailing, house building. I understand now it's just to be a semi-linear quest game and not a 2d voxel minecraft dream.
Otherwise, this is a nice looking game, and surely worth 5-15 bucks pending on how much content gets added to it. You guys have done a good job and keep working away at this. I am a hardcore sandbox guy but I can enjoy a game like this from time to time and would pay for the full version!
And you can tame foxes.... do I really need to say more! Check this out everyone!
Hey, thanks for the review!
The combat and movement can be kinda awkward, and I'll try to tone down the chaos. I've got some ideas for keeping the party a little more organized and less.. frantic? Also adjusted the speed, to slow down some of the ridiculously fast creatures. 8 directional movement may be worked in if the pathfinding behaves.
It isn't quite a sandboxel dream, but I will be releasing the map editor for people interested in expanding the game themselves. Also, the event/quest editor is pretty nifty, but those won't be put out until they're more user friendly
