Post news Report RSS Chloe donation update

It has been a week since the suspension of Chloe Sagal’s IndieGogo campaign – for whom we dedicated our Project Zomboid sales from the 3rd, 4th and 5th April.

Posted by on

Given the prolonged confusion over the campaign’s suspension and the return of people's donations (for further information on this please see Eurogamer’s report) The Indie Stone have now concluded that the campaign was not everything it appeared to be.
As we stated last Wednesday, given the size of our donation and its origins in our playing community, the situation is not one that we feel at all comfortable with.

As such, when IndieGogo have refunded our donation, we will now be giving the $4030 to Médecins Sans Frontières – the international medical aid charity. This is an organisation that works worldwide providing medical aid to those most in need regardless of their race, religion, or political affiliation – and is close to the TIS heart, as we know it will be to many who donated.

If anyone is unsatisfied with this choice we have spoken to our friends at Desura who will be open to refunding game purchases that took place on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of April upon request.

All refunds will come from our own pocket as we would like the charity donation total of $4030 to remain sacrosanct.

Above all we think Destructoid put it best when they say "It's for the benefit of everyone if we move on and look at this as something to learn from".

We appreciate that this has been a strange and confusing week, but would like to thank the PZ community for their unfailing generosity nevertheless.

they were rasing money for a girl who supposedly needed surgery but since it went through indigogo they cancelled the campaign because it could of possibly been fraudulent. i haven't see anything that either confirms her story or proves it was fraud, regardless indiegogo didnt want anything to do with it.

Well after that "paralyzed" man called "ZilianOP" on Twitch got caught as a fraud when he walked around just fine during a live stream after receiving over $20,000 in donations, that alienated a lot of people to reconsider donating to people whom they cannot prove are really injured or need donations for purposes other than personal use.

I doubt anyone is going to have an issue with TIS. They did get what they paid for and I don't think anyone doubts the good intention of the devs. Though to be fair I got the game a LONG time ago and am to broke to buy it again so it didn't really involve me.

I got a huge hole in the side of my head from tumor being removed, and sure thats screwed my life up a bit, and some people have been generous to me in the sense that they might toss me a game or something, but I would never take money from people ever. I can also prove this to XD, I got a webcam and medical documentation XD

I think you've chosen a good way to resolve this, and I'm very happy that the donations are going to MSF.

"When it's done" is usually the attitude for release dates on ModDB.

Expect nothing for at least 3 years. Then it's actually a surprise when it comes out in 2 years, 11 months, and 30 days.

i would believe your story if the game wasn't green lit on Steam. I know its coming soon but not knowing exact date is bugging me, or at least close date or even a month. anyway, hope it will be worth the wait. good luck to them.

As devs stated somewhere (one of the updates, AFAIR) - it's a matter of weeks now (need to fix critical bugs left like crashing), so May should be a pretty safe bet.

When you said Médecins Sans Frontières, I read that wrong and seen Militaires Sans Frontières (Soldiers Without Borders) from Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. lol

Should of sent it to Child's Play. Just my two cents. But then again, I likely don't know the whole story besides what was posted on this thread. Kids deserve to be happy when they're in dire straits. npnp
