We regret to inform you Black Mesa: Dormitories has ceased development.

It's been a fun 3 years, but we just don't have the time/willpower to actually continue this, as we both just took seperate ways in terms of hobbies & development.

We'd like to thank everyone for their support, feedback over the last 3 years, it's been really helpful and ofcourse, fun to read. :)

Kind regards,

inFused

Wow this came out of nowhere, it's too bad you guys won't be working on this anymore as I was really looking forward to the release. Either way thanks for a good 3 years and good luck to you and yours!

This is a damn shame, all that work, for nothing. But hey, I guess that's the way she goes... :(

Can we at least see some beta map releases in the future?

We'll think about it, as a lot of maps are quite scattered around our harddrives. :)

And a few maps are from the time we had no idea what we were doing. :p

Well I'm sure it doesn't matter you guys spent a lot of time onto your maps and if just 1 of these maps is good it's well worth the effort.

Another side effect might be that new comers to source mapping might get some insights on how certain things are done or how things shouldn't be done which will only benefit the whole hl community as a whole as they gain their experience faster.

Or in another scenario: Perhaps scratch the storyline and release what you've got as a good old plain lose map pack where the player dies in the final map by some falling rocks or a G-Man abduction etc.. It'll be still better than having nothing to show for. :) (Thinking about the mod Mesa-Fallback that mod was also unfinished yet Phillip of runthinkshootlive.com convinced the author to release it never the less and the players loved it even though it was an unfinished mod.)

Yap think about it - the decision is yours. I'm sure either scenario would be good. I would keep em only if I would be certain that some day into the future I would release it finished to 100%. Up to you. It's time to choose. :P

This isn't even kind of a C&D, this is just quitting.
Nonetheless, that's too bad.

What a pity but understandable. That's life. Eventually release the maps open source perhaps some Black Mesa modder might make good use of them. Good luck to both of you.

Aww, damn. Sorry to hear the bad news. I was just about to be ready to start modeling again, because I just recovered from psychological abuse, and am finally free from group homes, so I finally have a life now, free for two months already. I'm about to get internet, but damn, can't believe it's too late already. :/ Well, it was fun trying to make the roof. Bummer I didn't have enough peace in the group home to have time to figure how to texture the skylight. Oh well. It was fun while I had some opportunities. :P
