Post news Report RSS Browse by popularity and top rated

One of the most requested features is now live, the ability to view the most popular mods and games.

Posted by on

One feature that people have continually asked for, is the ability to browse the most popular trending games, mods, groups and engines on the site. Until now on the homepage right menu we used to show the top few but no more. That all changes starting today, because you can now browse the most popular content. Here are the links:

Most Popular: Mods | Games | Engines | Groups | Companies

And as an added bonus, I have also coded in the ability to browse the highest rated content:

Highest Rated: Mods | Games | Engines

To help you promote your mod, game, engine or group we have just created a few dynamic buttons for you to embed on your homepage, facebook, forums, blog etc. You will find these buttons on your mod, game, engines or groups homepage and they look like this:

Gnomoria

and one for rating:

Gnomoria

We are pretty excited by this change and hope you enjoy it too. If you have any questions or need help promoting your content with these buttons, just leave a comment.

This is very cool, a lot easier to see which games are trending each day and get the latest updates.

Can we maybe somehow filter after "Watchers" ?

Like a game beeing out 1 week with 1000 watchers is probably more liked than a game beeing out 1 year with 100k Views but 100 watchers.

I hope that small mods wouldn't get affected by this.

but why not put the "Embed Buttons" part at the mod's/group's Stats page instead on body part of the mod's/group's individual pages? D:
it's kinda unpleasant to see if you're the member of the mod/group.

The current position is just in the way, yea, I agree with moving them to the stats page, or make them optional so they can be turned off in the "Edit group/Page" tab.

The buttons are useful for a short stint of spreading links, then they're just taking up space, at least move them to the bottom of the page out of the way of the main content...

They are a good idea, but they need to be less obtrusive.

Or moved to the right side of main profile under "Twitter" or under Statistics box (not page).

There would be good.

Or give the admins of a game/group the ability to arrange a groups tabs, like you can do on DeviantART, you could move and match till it suited you, now THAT would be cool :)

only developers see these buttons - normal users browsing wont.

On any game page I visit, I can't see the buttons respectively, but any group I visit, be I an admin or not, they're there, could you make them movable to the Stats tab with something like a checkbox in the Edit Group page, or just move them out of the way, as smack-bang in the middle of a groups page above the images is a little obtrusive...

Thanks

To get buttons:

Take a URL like these:

Button.moddb.com
Button.moddb.com

Replace "mods" with "games" for Indies. Maybe also with "groups", "users" or other types. The number at the end is the ID of the project. You can find it by going to a project page and viewing the URL for the image header or something like that. It should have the number in the URL.

How about changing the wrench logo to the project/game/engine/user/group's icon?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+2 votes

thought about it, but might be a little ugly and most games will be adding these buttons to their homepage so changing the icon wont be super-relevant

A new feature but kind of ignore how the comment system is broken?

I understand the priorities now. THAT'S COOL!

I hope we will be able to check our comment history in our profiles as it is impossible for me to remember each page I posted on here... :( Seems to be not a priority atm. :( I hope others see this and request it.

Thanks.

The top rated mods and the most popular mods are both full of bad mods obiously no one likes them ex: one of the highest rated mods is a troll mod its just spam...
