Post news Report RSS Blade of Agony | Chapter 1 released

"You are B.J. Blazkowicz, the greatest spy and biggest risk-taker the Allied forces have ever known. Take on the might and fury of the Third Reich as you blast your way to victory!"

Posted by on

After a development time of exactly 21 months, we are proud to finally announce the release of the first chapter of Blade of Agony titled "The Staff of Kings". With a total of 7 maps, orchestrated music, combined low-poly models and pixelated 90's style beauty, armament from the battlefields of WWII, interactive NPCs and many more amazing features never seen in a Doom mod before, this is one of the largest releases the community has ever seen - at least in terms of digital size and scale. Join historical battles, relieve the action from the Second World War from a new perspective and battle the diabolical Adolf Hitler, who is twisting science and the occult in his pathological mission to conquer the world. The fate of all free peoples hangs in the balance - failure is not an option. Get the first chapter of Blade of Agony now from our Download area, make sure to read the info pages while it's loading to not get lost too easily.

You need to play the mod version with the latest version of GZDoom. Otherwise, feel free to play the standalone.

This is sad news, but we unfortunately can't make it compatible with Zandronum 3.0. Too many features are missing.

this is a wonderful mod but there are some serious performance issues. i have a gtx1060 and the game still has slow downs. i mean this is still a doom mod and it should run just perfectly but it dont.

If you have issues, please take a closer look at the ENH OPTIONS and the OpenGL settings in the regular OPTIONS area, it should help a lot if you adjust it to your needs.

After unpacking your zip from the standalone version my Anti-virus scanner (Free Avira) prompted a warning and moved boa_c1.exe to quarantine. Do you have any information or other reports on this?

IIRC, a user on another forum did indeed report a false positive from Avira with the standalone version.

Actually I know of two other users who wanted to play this game. One was using WindowsDefender and one Virustotal. In both cases the .exe was suppressed.
Seeing that it is not limited to my Anti virus software, I will not be able to play/test your game. Blindly trusting someone over the internet and saying it probably was a false-positive, can only get you in trouble in the long run.
I hope you find the time to look into this matter. Thank you

The EXE is simply a BAT file converted into an EXE that launches the game engine with the appropriate file package. If you don't want to use the exe, simply drag and drop the PK3 onto the GZDOOM.EXE

Fantastic, thank you.
It works like a charm. The .exe is still quarantined and the drag 'n' drop worked.
Thank you for the clarification.
Now I can dive into gameplay.
