Treyarch kicks off their Open Beta for PC Modding & Mapping Tools.
In April, they began rolling out invitations to members of the PC modding community to participate in their Closed Alpha program. Months of testing, teamwork, iteration, updates, and refinements later, they’re pleased to announce that today marks the beginning of Open Beta on PC!
Concluding their Alpha phase means that they’ve passed step one – there’s still work to be done, and with the start of the Open Beta they’re excited to begin the next phase of development…
Opening access to modding and mapping tools to a wider audience will allow Treyarch to more effectively address bugs, add polish, and move closer to a complete suite of PC features. While these tools are most certainly for the community, they wouldn’t be possible without the community itself, which is why they’re grateful for your patience and participation.
In the coming months, Treyarch plans to continue to work on enhancing the user experience and the ability to create modded content. The Open Beta will include an Unranked Server Browser that will allow users running mods to connect to each other’s custom game lobbies. The Unranked Dedicated Server files are still under development and their intended release is currently TBD. You can explore maps/mods created by the community in the Steam Workshop. There you can see some of the content developed during the Closed Alpha.

To download Black Ops III modding and mapping tools, you have to access your Steam Library and then select Tools section.
Awesome, it's great to see that Treyarch still cares about Modding for Call of Duty.

This is nothing more than a desperate attempt by Activision to save their favorite cash cow from imminent death. They ruthlessly withheld mod tools for nearly 10yrs so that they could efficiently gouge their fans with shallow retreads and DLC. When they refused to allow fans to buy CoD4:Remastered as a standalone it was a blatant admission that they knew people wouldn't buy the new game otherwise. The fact that they are attempting to revive fan interest with limited mod tools now is simply more evidence that the franchise is toast.
dunno why he is saying that, as BO3 mod was announced one year earlier than AW/CoD4 Remastered announcement, and a map editor also appeared before that same announcement
He's just plain stupid and paranoid. Hating cod for whatever reason. Thinks he's the boss of activision and they have to do what he wants to make his ego feel good.
BO3 was best selling game again with double digit millions so much for the franchise dying.
It figures that when you have millions buying your game there's bound to be some idiots among them. Its a fact that happy people are also quiet people while those that are unhappy will let the world know about it.
All console titles including BO3 got a one-time boost in sales due to the next-gen changeover but that will never happen again. The utter disgust for the path that Activision has taken is clearly shown now by the pathetic preorders for Infinite Warfare. If Activision hadn't forced people to buy Infinite Warfare as the only way to get CoD4:Remastered then those numbers would be even lower. Activision has used and abused the CoD franchise ever since they stole it from West & Zampella and Infinite Warfare is shaping up to finally tank the whole thing. I suspect that the series will be turned over to Raven Software as the lead developer in order to stop the bleeding since Treyarch was always nothing more than a scab developer that Kotick used to steal the series from its creators in the first place. Noises about limited pc mod tools for the previous CoD title are nothing more than a pr stunt and won't decrease fan anger with Activision at all.

The mod tools actually work and are very powerful. So much for "just a pr stunt". Since they abandoned modding the amount of hackers has dramatically decreased. Thats a good thing.
CoD should not get mods in the first place anyway. That just splits up the playerbase.
Who do you think you are to tell them what they can and can't do with their game? You could choose to be glad that you get MW Remaster but nooo you must hate it.
80$ for both games together is a great deal. They are first and foremost a business and they gotta take care of their business. THQ didn't and thats why they're gone and their games are dead now.
You'll get a free weekend soon after release and probably after a year or so MW Remaster will become standalone. You all act as if they hurt you in some way. They didn't. You can go play titanfall if you like them so much better but deep down you know that its far worse than cod.
The fans are fed up with how Activision has exploited and ruined the CoD franchise and all the Activision Employees and apologists in the world aren't going to be able to save it now. Mod tools after 10yrs for a game that has been run into the ground? Nobody cares.

Does it seem odd to anybody else that the same person who defended Activision so strongly here makes sure to show up in other threads ready to defend them at any cost? Anyway, I can't say I am surprised that they would stoop to strong arming individual modders after the way they brutally robbed the CoD creators. Unless there was a big backlash that threatened to damage the brand they could steamroll everybody with dmca takedown notices if they want to.

Second of all it has nothing to do with modding it seems to be about his website. The english of Hajas is so bad that I wouldn't fully trust his version of what Easy Solutions wants.

Holy crap you're pathetic. Grow up and realize people may enjoy modding games you don't like.
They've dug their own grave by making a series become nothing more than a trend-seeker desperately trying to appease the fans after knowing that they've screwed the pooch so much with derivative gameplay, terrible DLC and exaggerated promises. Battlefield will likely follow soon as well, being that they're going back to WWI with a decent singleplayer for once to make a good profit but eventually they'll also go the same way. Their leap of faith with WWI was a success unlike hardline being a fade of the cops and robbers genre.
Well let's see if some modders will create some interesting mods and maps....I just hope it ain't too late for that.
The real story here is that the actions of Activision's legal surrogate seem to indicate that they have the intention to take absolute control of all past and future mod content including attacking legitimate longtime modders. The restrictive BO3 mod tool program seems to be an integral part of that overall stranglehold strategy. Its actually quite stunning that a mod site like this isn't raising alarm bells about it instead of sweeping the story off the front page.
