New animations, loads of sounds, scripting, codes - it's ALIIIIIVE!

Posted by on

We have been silent for a long time now, but we were not lazy ;)

So today I present you a list of our updates - and a new video, aswell as some screenies!
The video shows our WIP version of the city life ingame.

  • Thanks to the addition of new "nationalities", we can now have a huge amount of voices for units.
  • Currently there is voices for troopers, imp crew, rebels, male civilian, female civilian, male merc, female merc and a few alien races (wookiees, trandos, rodians, etc.). Thanks to Man-at-Arms{CRO} who helped me on that
  • Soldiers now play a sound after they died and fall to the ground (clackering of armor, or just body hitting the ground)
  • Soldiers now randomly play idle sounds (talking) from time to time, while they rest.
  • Randomized waypoint system for civilians - they walk a random path of waypoints and play random animations.
  • New code for imperial Walkers:
  • they now can walk backwards, a new animation will be playing.
  • they now play different turn animations for each side (turn left, turn right)
  • reworked health code for all vehicles. tanks and AT-STs take a few hit before their armor can be broken. AT-ATs take alot hits and are beast to kill, but they can be destroyed with alot firepower! took me SEVERAL DAYS to get that finally working, there is alot of new code behind that! :)
  • more ambient sounds (city life) created for open places, arenas, traffic ships, club and bar crowd, crowded streets, computers, engines, machines etc...
  • I spend some weeks mixing sounds together to create huge/realistic ambient tracks which turned out pretty good :)
  • Long looping sounds, like cantina music or long speeches, have been split into several parts, so they play from different points every time you enter that area with your camera. Otherwise you would hear one sound start 100x from the same spot. This was also very long taking work, just to provide a better atmosphere.
  • new unit portraits created for > every single unit <
  • the portrait shows a front view of the actual 3d model, depending on faction and rank there are little symbols on the portrait aswell

Interesting, anyone finding this mod would easily mistake it for a Lucas Arts strategy/RP game.

i've been off of starwars ever since Lucas Arts started screwing around with the canon, retconing in the worst possible ways. this mod has done what ever other one of Lucas' tricks failed to do: bring me back to starwars with a passion. reallllly looking forward to what the final release will look like.
keep up the fantastic work! ^_^

Amazing progress! You guys are great, I applaud your effort, and from what we have seen so far, it will pay off with one of the most realistic star wars rts games ever made. You guys should get paid. Set up a paypal donation link, you guys deserve it! :D
