Report article RSS Feed Beta 1.01 Patch is LIVE

Many fixes are included in patch 1.01 as well as added features to spread the wonders of Western democracy throughout the world!

Posted by [nmrihdev]-Maxx on Nov 3rd, 2011

Yeah, there were a few bugs in Beta 1.0 I guess, but that is what a 1.01 patch is for! We here at the NMRiH team are happy to bring you Patch 1.01 for No More Room in Hell. We went in to overtime to try and resolve as many major issues (and some minor ones too) that we had been hearing about from all of you guys.

After playing dozens of games of NMRiH with so many of you awesome people and getting your feedback directly while playing with you, we have been able to gather a lot of information to help us tighten up the graphics. From my firsthand experience over the last few days I personally have learned a lot about what you guys like and dislike and what you think needs fixing or changing. Everyone on the team, developers and testers alike, have been playing with all of you and also taking notes. So we rocked out hard and tried to get as much done as quickly as possible so we could deliver it to you!

Keep in mind that this does not fix everything, and there will still be crashes from time to time. We want to keep improving the game to be the best experience it can be. In order to achieve that goal, we want your input on how best to do that! Come join our forums and contribute your thoughts!

REMEMBER - For Patch 1.01 to be effective in fighting crashes, we ask that you delete your Config.cfg file in your Sourcemods/nmrih/cfg folder!

Now, here is the Changelist for Patch 1.01:

  • Cleared out config_default.cfg except binds (should fix most crashes when changing maps)
  • Fixed godmode when mp_friendlyfire is 0
  • Rewrote shaders to be more efficient and prevent crashing
  • Fixed viewmodel particles (and flashlight) appearing wrong to an observer
  • Tweaked default values of map length, overlord despawn timeout
  • Player names should now always appear above the player's head
  • Friendly fire damage has been reduced (which is now a convar, sv_friendly_fire_factor)
  • Players will not incorrectly turn now if killed by another player (only if killed by headshot by another player)
  • Fixed phalanx bottle orientation on hip
  • Fixed phalanx bottle not being removed after being used (causing the floating pills)
  • Screen shader effects can be disabled by turning off "nmrih_screenspace" ConVar
  • Fixed sv_realism damage
  • Decreased cl_npc_interp to 0.1
  • Made mp_timelimit 0 mean infinite time on the map
  • Auto kick players that are idle for x amount of time (set by convar, typing / navigating ui does not count towards activity)
  • Implemented Vote Kick / Vote Ban systems
  • Added brush entity (func_ff_blocker) that prevents friendly fire for players inside of it, currently used in spawn rooms
  • Fixed two female zombie sounds that were looping
  • All zombie hitboxes have been rebuilt
  • Lump allocation errors should now be fixed
  • Players can now spawn into games for the first 2 minutes or first 2 objectives, whichever takes longer
  • Tweaked damage based on new hitboxes
  • Fixed turned zombie models leaning
  • Added weapon switch keybinds to keybind menu
  • Added picture of default keybinds to randomized loading screens
  • Fixed issue where decals would be continually applied each map reset
  • Added head gibbing to all zombie models (except player zombies)

As I mentioned in the header above, much like the greatest President of all time George W. Bush taught us all, Western style democracy is the greatest thing in the history of the world. With that being an obvious scientific fact, we would like to introduce you to votekick and voteban options in NMRiH!

Both votekick and voteban are functioning by default in any server. Information on how both features work can be found HERE.

Blizz and other companies should ask you about fast patching. Very nice job guys.

Blizzard often has patches for it's games the day after release. Dunno why you'd be bashing, same with most companies these days...well, if they care about the PC, that is.

sorry to sound foolish, but do i just extract the patch to the mod folder in source mods?

Yes, just extract the nmrih folder to the sourcemods folder. Click YES to overwrite files.

After spending some time with the patch, I realized that the fear and dread of your team mates is no longer there. While this is good so you dont die from one dumb mistake, I feel like FF might be a little low now. Just my two cents. Keep up the great work.

Uh, no. Everyone getting a pistol at the start defeats the point of our game. You're supposed to work as a team and share the weapons. If someone hogs all the stuff, well they are just going to die because they are going to move too slow!

I've tested the game with the new patch again and have to say that the game experience improved A LOT! It's a lot nicer to play now and of course it makes more fun than before.

Keep it up! Looking forward to see further progress!

With my crash issues being resolved, the only problems I have left are simply aesthetic issues. I'm sorry. As fun as this mod is, I hate the animations for the player models. ;/

Watching this mod growing stronger and doing his best in front of your eyes is great! Here is some of my rant. :)

- It would be great if you make objective navigation clearer. Like adding some visual clues. Highlighting is good right now at places but most of my time I wondering around without any clues of where to go and what to do.
- Where can I assign 'objective' button? I want to see objective again during the game and I think I'm not alone here.
- 'Chinatown' -- people tends to **** around gun store. Because it's obvious place to go - big and light. Most of them die between shelves though without even trying to find the canister. May be this sign 'Alive inside' should reflect direct light? Or the car should be moved to reveal it?
- 'Cabin' -- people trying to insert battery into police car instead of generator, they running around it like crazy. I did it myself first time because of objective saying something about powering up police car radio or something like that.
- Zombie spawn. Is where any way to check the distance for player nearby before spawn? Because spawning behind your back or in already cleared room is annoying like hell. Which is has no room in it. :)
- Dat little girl! May be she should make some hissing noises just like creeper from Minecraft? You can't keep her with adult woman voice (I guees it's just a placeholder).

Phew! I hope this is not just pointless posting here.
Keep up your awesome work! Onward to polished final!

awesome update! unfortunately, the game is really easy now. maybe spawn more zombies once the final objective has been completed? Or spawn a lot of fast zombies?

Mkilbride Nov 3 2011, 6:02pm replied:

They put in fast zombies and people will not play this.

fast zombies are the only real threat in a game like this.

Beez-one Nov 3 2011, 6:35pm replied:

The whole concept of this mode was to make classic zombie game. The point is - ammo is rare, zombies are everywhere. So they just could win by mass.
If someone wants fast zombies he should play L4D series.

Rawket Nov 3 2011, 6:53pm replied:

Then make the ******* zombies tougher. God damn, I'm just trying to offer simple suggestions to make it harder to beat.

There is already fast zombies in this game by the way. I just want more spawning when doing objectives.

Mkilbride Nov 3 2011, 10:52pm replied:

The fast Zombies aren't intentional, a glitch, even. That aside, yes, play L4D, great game, but I'm playing this because it feels like BrainBread. Ah, BB:S, that's still in development as well, but I mean, this has it covered...pretty much.

This game is so good but it's just no fun. The replayability is too low. I'm hoping to see some new modes and maps and maybe some weapons. The melee weapons need to do more damage. Some of the guns need tweaking like the Sniper Rifle.

Admiral_Skeybar Nov 10 2011, 3:40pm says:

There is a bug that I recently discovered, it happens when a zombie grabs you from an angle, not from the front, but usually when it grabs you and you manage to move just to the left (or right) and it still holds on to you. When this happened, I tried shooting (not shoving) it and then the game crashed. (standard windows "hl2 has stopped working" error)

This has happened 5 or 6 times now in exactly the same way so I'm pretty sure it's that combination of events that causes it to crash.

Beez-one Nov 12 2011, 3:47pm says:

Right now I can stand crashes and glitches. But zombie spawn in front of your eyes... When you got two little girls around you in a place which was clear few seconds ago (cinema lobby) it's just not feels right.
