Just take a look at our shipyard. There you'll find a brand new German Typ VIIC submarine waiting for its first mission. It replaces the one currently in use which was still from the original game. This new model was modelled and skinned by Badscull. It is armed with a "8.8 cm/45 SK C/35" deck gun, a "2cm/65 C/30" AA gun, four bow torpedo tubes and one aft torpedo tube. The Typ VIIC, also called "Atlantikboot" or "Atlantic boat" in English, was the most produced German submarine class and most produced in history with over 700 built. The boats were widely used in the North Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea and sank more ship tonnage than any other U-boat type, especially in the early years of the war.
Our second new addition is for the surface fleet. Our ship expert Cabrio has again delivered a masterpiece and surprised us with an American heavy cruiser of the Pensacola class. There were two vessels of this class which had been built in the 1920's following the Washington Naval Conference's guidelines: The USS Pensacola and the USS Salt Lake City. Our model is armed with 10 x 8" guns, 8 x 5" guns and 4 x 40mm quadruple AA guns. Furthermore it has a catapult that is able to rotate to allow the launching of a sea plane. The USS Pensacola as well as the USS Salt Lake City participated in almost every major operation of the war in the Pacific and played a important role in the Battle of Guadalcanal where they met their Japanese counterparts. Both ships were heavily damaged several times but both survived the war, until they were both sunk in 1948. The new model will replace one of the Fletcher class destroyers on Midway and Tokyo Express and more maps will surely follow.
That's it for today. We hope that some of you are inspired now to add something to our modding project. You know that new additions to our team are always welcome. Just visit our forum at www.battlegroup42.de.. There'll be no other news before Christmas most likely so we like to wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year !
Glad you guys are making more navel units. The lack of navel units is why I stopped the BF series after the first one: the navel stuff was awesome in that game!
When are the creators of BF1942 going to revive this game, its too epic to rot to dust by the age of pretty graphics...
Great work guys!
