Hey folks, its been quiet lately in the Armada 3 Dev team with many changes and the final release of version 1.2 to the world. I took the time recently to assess with our development lead Maxloef just how far we have come and what's going to happen next with the Armada team. You'll soon see a new dev diary round-up with Max himself where we discuss his latest projects including some exciting new add ons and Project Axanar our next game. We start off with our great success in releasing the 1.2 version of a call to arms which goes a long way into fixing the AI Behaviours and really makes each AI Unit overall challenging and exciting.

We've had our first report back also of a team from the MTG gaming group that they have beaten the Borg lead by our very own el-vi-riachi lead beta tester and Armada Developer on the hardest AI difficulty available, congratulations to that team because that is a fantastic accomplishment.

1.2 added some great changes to the mix as well with Deputy Lead Developer Gul Dukat putting in a large amount of time and effort into gearing up the completion of the release and once again the whole team thanks him for his constant coverage of Armada 3 on his gaming challenge as always we wish him every success in the growth of his excellent channel as well gul gaming, check it out on YouTube if you have not subscribed already.

Id also like to mention Ambarenya one of our talented developers who rewrote over 3000 string entries for CTA I think he really deserves praise for naming some very hard research topics in the Trek universe and providing excellent scientific explanations, he worked diligently on 1.2 and really re shaped our diplomacy pacts.

Draconis who changed the AI also added a group siege mode in 1.2 making it even easier to get those artillery ships in siege range, he also found interestingly during the course of development that due to us allowing player built siege ships to attack other player and AI ships that the AI itself did not understand how to use them any more. You should now notice when playing AI 2 types of siege class one will only be able to target structures meaning the AI knows how to use these valuable vessels and will quite literally put a hole in your starbases.

Draconis didn't stop there though he worked heavily on the AI use times to ensure that some fun events now can happen against AI, for example when the Klingon star base now gets so low on health, the AI can choose to detonate the shock-wave device as intended for players, so you may want to keep your main fleet clear of those babies!

Now as with any major release inherently there are a few glitches that make it through the cracks so i can announce that we will likely release a 1.2.1 hotfix patch which will change the following:

>Various String Changes
>Slight ammendment to diplomacy pacts pre reqs
>Cardassian antimatter cost for warp fix
>Archon fire points on mesh
>Unity one sensor ability tweak
>Few minor AI tweaks for easier AI's
>Few Icon updates/tweaks
>New models for the Curry, Centaur and Miranda Class

Wanted to add my praise again for all involved. Ambarenya, Bane, Gul Dukat, Draconis, Fangoriously, all of the devs and testers, and the entire community have been instrumental in creating a great gaming experience.

Was a team effort, we used reverse psychology on Godlike Borg, we played like we didn't want to win, so the Queen just gave up and surrendered. :)

I must ask, will there be any gameplay mode additions? I know that Flagship Victory is still not how it was in Sins but will it be addressed in future updates?
Also, will there be additional maps or map packs listed for download?

the group artillery is great, but the AI forgot how to use them? i thought i noticed my structures being unsniped at lately. did you have to set the ai ships to can target structures only to trick them into using them right again?

looking forward to the new models, and im glad the archon got a fix. i did notice 1 string problem yesterday on one of my planet's bonus traits. you can see a little icon, but im not sure what its supposed to do Images.akamai.steamusercontent.com

It's the Space Ponies string! I think I probably removed it at some point, and was going to replace it with something, but forgot to.

Anyways, will have to find some kind of lore friendly description, perhaps: "Space-faring Hippoloids", or something like that.

Hey I think there's an issue with Dukat's survivor ability it doesn't seem to work at all. I also can't even convert C_Buff_Survivor.entity to see what the problem is.
