Post news Report RSS Alpha Project Support & Continuation Ends

The time has come to officialy say, what have to be said...

Greetings Alpha Project community!

As some might have already guessed or known from the Battlefield Singleplayer Forums, Alpha Project support and continuation are over; it has been a very long time and I want to thank everyone involved in this project!

Also, we want to thank the community for supporting us for such a long time even when we had our troubles as any other mod has; we always had tried to do as good as possible, which was not easy with a mod walking on the edge of possibilities with a game's engine of this age.

Expanding the possibilities and inventing new things were always things that inspired us to continue with the mod and to get the last bit out of Battlefield 2, without suffering all too much from problems which appeared with the latest releases. That had just showed us that we expanded the possibilities already too much and the memory limit of the Refractor 2 engine; that held us back to add any more content to the mod/maps.

However, overall we are glad with what the mod has become and we would have never imagined it to become that beloved and big in the end. Thanks to our community and contributors, without which we would have never become what we are now.

Please don't be sad or angry, it has been a very long time and we think the mod has already passed everything we could have dreamed of.

With that said, we wish you all the best and happy fragging in whatever mod or game that might be!

Best regards,

The Alpha Project Team

Most of the devs were already gone by the time this article got posted.

Correction, most of the devs were gone right after the 0.2 release. I for one joined the team to help on 0.3 and I am glad that I joined, because by that time it was only JONES who was still working on the mod. The others had already left and I am still glad that we managed to get the last release out.

Now, it is just me that has moved on to my own project that you can find on the link below:

P.S

Sorry JONES for advertising my mod on your page. You can yell at me later. xD

Sad that this wasn't further developed, I just installed it, would've been awesome to see this explode into awesomeness of a BF2 MOD.
So, you guys using BF2hub to play online? or are there any other ways to get back online again? haven't played BF2 for years, and suddenly find this awesome MOD.

I know all about the ups and downs of working a project like this and IMHO, you guys have knocked it out of the park. When you're pushing a game's engine to the limits, it becomes a bit insane trying to walk that fine line between what can be done and what you envision.

My hats off to you JONES, and all of the people that put time in on AP. It's one of the best game mods around and the only one I can think of outside of PR that squeezes as much nectar out of this old engine. Great work and best of luck with your future endeavors.

Any chance you guys will fix the 64-player version of Coast City that worked flawlessly in the beta?

Good luck future to all those involved over the years. JONES and the other members of the Alpha Project team have created easily one of the best mods of all time, and you all seem very devoted and hard working. It's good to see such a unique mod flourish all of these years especially in recent times with the seemingly constant appearance of all of these other bf2 "mods". Well done :)

hello, i recently started to play Alpha Project and i must say i really enjoy every aspect of it! its really awesome, but i must say im curious to know if you would let me modify the files within your mod for personal use, i want to adjust the damage of some weapons to a bit more menacing/realistinc state e.g the sniper rifles and some light machineguns, thank you and best regards.
