Breaking news: The most recent Steam news post has revealed that the much awaited Source SDK will be released sometime next week. In addition to this, there will also be a "surprise for the community" which will be announced alongside the SDK release. The release of the Source will open up many new opportunities for the numerous Half-Life 2 mods that have been in pre-production, allowing them to finally commence development. In relation to this, a minor Half-Life 2 patch has been released which will reduce the infamous "sound stutter bug" that has been affecting some users.

The patch to the sound bug didnt fix problems...in some cases steam forum users are saying it made it worse
I bet the surprise is... A Half-Life 2 Deathmatch thing-ish thing, or something of that sort. Or a lame-ass CS:Source update:(

It sure as hell isn't DoD:S because they are wayy behind on that, there isn't in a screenshot released of it.
I hope to hell its vac 2 or some anticheat stuff, because cheating is getting ridiculous in CS:S. Nothing to stop it.

I believe its the HL2 Multiplayer release. Valve talked about how disapointed people were without the implemented HL2 multiplayer, so they said something about a surprise coming soon. I think thats it :/

hehehe, yeah i agree. I think its probobly a media pack for CS:S. Didn't they say they would be releasing de_prodigy and another map sometime soon? Its possible it could be HL2DM.

I think a suprise would be retracting all HL2 and redoing it again :P
that would be just funny
my guess it that the surprise might be either:
- Info/Announcement on the HL² expansion pack
- HL² Deathmatch
- Blue Shift finaly gets port by Gearbox
- High Definition pack for the steam versioens of HL, HLS & Op4
- TFC Source
- TF²
- Delivery system for mods :D
DoD:S wouldnt be a very good surprise at all. Thats like someone handing you a hundred dollar bill and then says "I have a surprise for you!" and gives you a penny.

Great news about the full SDK being released soon.. though I have no skills in modding other then giving suggestions lol which is pretty much worth nothing.... am glad to hear the good news.
