Zombie Survival Level Design Competition.
Zombie Survival is inviting the level design community out there to join in and have yourselves a lovely little competition. Basically all you have to do is design a new map for the mod. Obviously it’s not just a simple as that so there are some rules we want you to follow and a little brief we have produced for you to follow.
We’ve had a factory, a subway and some other cool maps however. That may not be what you want, we have narrowed it down to five themes that we liked, which you will be introduced to shortly.
Now on to the part that makes it a competition. It may not be much but at first prize we are delighted to award you with Garry’s Mod for first prize and second prize is early access to beta.
So we would like you to choose one of the following themes to base your map on. We want something original, awesome and mind blowing. But realistic. Your entry must be fun and exciting to play. It can be set in any of the following environments, as long as the map has been built in any of the engines. You may include any custom content with the submission. Send your entries in before April 1st. Please note it will not be first come first served so don’t rush. After all perfection cannot be rushed.
Theme –
:: Airport (Please no crappy planes made from geometry)
:: Skyrise (Offices/ Appartments)
:: Highway/ Motorway
:: Shopping Mall
:: Football Stadium (Not Man United – Instant loss/ Disqualification)
Remember if you want to make your level stand out, design custom models and materials. KEEP YOUR LEVEL SECRET, after all anything your opposition sees might tempt them to... copy?
Once you have finished your level send is via email to (zombie.survival@live.co.uk) with your map attached and any installation instructions. Make sure you include a readme.txt, identifying yourself as the author including your steam name (for prizes), and any other details you feel important. Files larger than 20MB should be uploaded to a free host first. You must also include the source of the map or the submission will be excluded.
Just so there is no misunderstanding please take your time to read the following rules.
1. The map must be original and not have been released publicly before.
2. More than one entry is allowed by individual designers or development teams, but iterations of the same map are not allowed.
3. By entering the competition you grant Zombie Survival the right to release the map as part of the Zombie Survival mod (which may include any maps entered into the competition) Please note that all maps will be clearly credited.
4. No assets from retail games other than HL2 are allowed.
5. No assets from previously released maps or mods are allowed without written permission from their original authors, which MUST be included in the entry email.
6. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into about it.
7. The map MUST have a proper filename: zs_mymapname.bsp
8. You may use any new assets you wish, as long as it doesn't break rules 4 and 5.
Finally –
"By submitting your map you give Five Finger Studios the right to use your level, any custom assets, custom materials, geometry and anything else you have sent to use with your map in the full release of the mod"
Gmod bought, now its up to you !
Instead of makeing a map itself cant we make like an over head view consept for a map? (kinda dumb question)
erm no, just a map ( it has to be able to be playable, but doesnt have to have the zs entities in them )
Fantastic! Been looking for a good reason to sit down and make a map.
hey!
as you know i'm already making a map
but i was wondering if it would be an awesome idea if i ported css de_dust to this game (not for competition)
just wondering if it seems cool
no that woule be a violation of copyright or something like that, you cant take content from other valve games without mounting.
oh my bad
i wont do that then
thanks for telling me
