This is a UT2k4 mod based on the tv show Zoids. It is meant to be a vehicle-based arena-type full-conversion mod, supporting teams of 1 on 1 up to 4 on 4 in battle. We are planning on making aerial zoids for full realism, and some zoids will have the ability to jump up canyon walls if the pilot is skilled enough. We have many plans for this mod, too many to type, but this is for the most part a learning experience, since the members of the team so far are all unexperienced. Okay, I figured I'd take this first post to tell a little about what we hope to achieve with this, where we're coming from, and how we plan to do it. So far, there is one person on the team (me), and I have no experience whatsoever in modding other than level creation for RPGs. That being said, I hope to at least create enough to show what this mod is supposed to be, so as to attract the attention of people who have the skills to help.

This is going to a vehicle-oriented arena-based third-person simulation. I call it a simulation because I plan to make it as close to piloting a Zoid as is possible with this engine. I'm still thinking of how to control Zoid selection, though I have a system in mind which borrows from Deus Ex a little. What I do know is that we are going to have all kinds of Zoids, from Molgas to Lightning Saix to Raynos.

I plan on having aerial combat, though you will be able to use ground Zoids efficiently to attack aerial combatants as well. I hope to implement most of the things from the New Century series, and a few from Chaotic Century.

One thing I plan on setting up is for Zoids with the movement capabilities to be able to scale cliffs, I.E. when the Liger bounced from canyon wall to canyon wall to attack an aerial opponent close-range. I also plan on making the energy shields, which shouldn't be too hard considering some of the weapons already created (shield gun, paladin). Also, the boosters, not only for speed boosts forward, but as in the case of Zero Jager, a directional booster based off of tank cannon movement that'll allow you to be running full speed forward and turn the booster to point sideways to dodge fire from directly ahead (you can imagine the possibilities from that).

So, I think that sums up the majority of the information I have right now. I am just learning Maya now, so expect basic model screens in a few weeks.
