Welcome to the Three Golden Oaks – Enjoy your Stay!

This famous old pub was once home to many people of historical interest; including revolutionaries from the Gunpowder Plot and, as the landlady claims, even Oliver Cromwell himself...

It's location on a hillock makes it a perfect place for Mr. Czerny to collect his thoughts and contemplate on the events surrounding him.

St. Paul's Churchyard is also a part of Zeitgeist now; also, the Bank can be seen in the latest batch of screenshots.

Now for something completely different; weapons!
The first weapon model we'd like to show to you is the "Khukuri" or "Khukri", a blade which was used by the nepalese and british forces both as a weapon and as a tool. Speed and skill of the person wielding them will make or break the effect of a Khukuri in battle.

Khukuri

Last but not least: we hope that we will be able to show you some movement and action during the summer, so this might very well be one of the last updates featuring "still" or semi-dynamic images from our maps, models etc.

Also, within the next two weeks there will be another (hopefully) interesting update, in order to keep you all up-to-date on our latest printed media articles.

I wouldn't say it's too clean, but you're right: it lacks a little contrast. I think I'll improve that

and thanks for all comments guys!

Eh, albatross's maps often times look good in screenshots but anyone who has played his map in Resistance and Liberation, or some other maps done by him, will tell you he cuts corners and overuses displacements and the maps simple don't live up to the hype when you get into them. Hopefully, he will learn from his past mistakes and work on his lackluster lighting and bad brushwork.

Hi Stubby,

level design greatly depends on the game it's made for. Concerning my RnL map "Ardennes", the issue was combining a highly detailed city center with vast outskirts, since the actual map (only consisting of the city center) was loathed by some individuals from the community for being way too compact and "so DoDish" (I wonder what they'd have said if I had come from CSS mapping instead & given them that same level.. :P). So, you see, massively changing a concept right in the middle of construction sometimes creates problems.

In Zeitgeist, I can define 100% of a level, from the art direction over the dimensions and points of interest to performance, so it shouldn't be much of a problem here. Besides, I already got used to the thought that there's always a steady percentage of people who don't like what I do no matter how I do it, but the rest does, and as long as it stays that way, I'm fine with it. :)

Cheers,

Til

Eh, i seem to see the same problems in these screenshots. Sloppy overuse of displacements being the most visible flaw.

Nice khukri, it's great that you've got a unique melee weapon rather than something bland like a combat knife or crowbar or something. The only other time I can remember seeing a khukri in a game was TF2.

Really a mod project with a "Big Idea"and epic background.
As a fan of "fictional history" Zeitgeist inspired me to
start my own mod playing in another time (60ties to 2525).

Keep on the good work!
By the way: I really like the car models!
When we may have a "Probefahrt" ?

"1930s of a fictional timeline". stopped reading right there. for some reason, all the wonders and complexities of a real world doesn't appeal to the add generation. i wonder why.

no wonder harry potter and twilight can sell millions.

Are you sure you didn't get up on the wrong foot today? ;)

I hope I didn't misunderstand you - it's pretty early in the morning - but to me it sounds like you're not much of a fan of fictional settings?

I did some thinking in the past hours, about how fictional stories (and not such based on facts) have influenced or created most of the wonders and complexities of our "real world" (quote: 'the word fiction is derived from the Latin fingo, fingere, finxi, fictum, "to form, create"').

From epic tales like Homer's Iliad over the Norse Sagas to Jules Verne's novels, most of the creative content of books and novels, and almost all of their author's inspiration has been based on imagination or pure fiction.

Or, as Alfred Hitchcock has put it: "For me, cinema is not a slice of life, but a piece of cake." ;).

Maybe one thing that makes people like us (and probably parts of the ADD-generation) turn away from this complex and wonderous real world are other people living in it who think they know what's inside a book from taking a casual look at it's cover.

Once again, too bad we can't please everyone, but we're going to manage with the rest.

Cheers,

Til
