Description

Spore Ship

Role: Support & Artillery Frigate
Armament: 10 Spore Launchers; 4 Dovin Basals
Shielding: Light (delay 0,09 seconds)
Abilities: Spore Barrage; Noxious Cloud; Regeneration (medium)
Complement: none

Here comes one of our fanon ships for the Vong race. We designed it back then with The Shapers to fulfill the role of a long range artillery unit, which would Vongs be otherwise lacking. But now we decided to change its class a bit to give the game more tactical depth - from simple long range damage dealer to support artillery. The ship could actually play a great support class in any game: it´s squishy, it doesn´t deal a lot of damage, it has healing abilities and it can debuff enemies.
1)DEBUFF. Primary weapon of Spore Ships are sharp missiles carrying acidic capsules which break upon collision. Even though they do not deal much damage, the acidic spores released upon impact etch/corrode enemy armor and make the unit more vulnerable for a while.
2)HEAL. Spore Ships also feature secondary projectiles, which contain a different type of spores and are of greater value, so you can fire these missiles only via Barrage ability. After choosing the area, Spore Ship will contaminate it/create a cloud-like obstacle which is highly dangerous for enemy fighters. But these spores do not posses only destructive powers - they also stimulate surface of Yorik Corals and enhance regeneration of any allied ship affected by the cloud.
FRAGILITY) Since the ship is basically a mobile lab brewing all it spores onboard, its Yorik Coral hull cannot be as thick as on other Vong vessels (not even mentioning brewing vats protected just by a slimy membrane, which have to be exposed due to cooling). Fortunately, the vessel can enwrap itself in a spore cloud, so that it takes less damage, heals faster and also repels any close attackers.
