But for those who wish to know just a little more, it's fast, its nimble, it has good armor and incredible shielding while also featuring advanced Imperial grade sensors so it can be used for scouting with a wide range of sight. Armed with 4 high energy blasters and it features a tractor beam turret mounted on the belly.
That's right, you heard me, A FIGHTER WITH A TRACTOR BEAM.
Honestly, if you encounter the Ssi-Ruuvi, your pretty much done.

Incorrect, they are NOT part of the Hutt Empire. They can however, be influenced. This will be more easily understood later.

BTW, I think people might not be seeing the tactical importance of a star fighter equipped with a tractor beam capable of immobilizing a cruiser...
That's a bit wierd isn't it.
Without friction it is impossible to tractor anything with a greater mass then yourself unless you have a huge engine to provide thrust. A fighter doesn't have that.
You could equip your fighter with a tractor beam in XWA but you could only use it on other fighter to slow it down a little bit.
I thought that was the whole purpose of the craft... Aren't fighters too fast for a tractor beam to latch onto? I sort of thought this craft was used to immobilize corvettes, frigates and light cruisers?
Actually it is possible. In the book "Choices of One" Captain Thrawn pulls a star destroyer with the tractor beam of the Lost Reef. He does it by using the motion moment of his ship. Maybe you could code it so that a whole flight of these fighters tractors the target ship, that way it would be more "realistic".
That was the intention, to have the entire squadron fire tractor beams at a ship up to the size of a cruiser and immobilize it.
Purpose of this was to trap a capital ship so that the factory ship can perform entechment or allow long range artillery to bombard it.
I do hope this idea is not impossible, several of us are researching this now
It should be, cause the squadrons engine power counts into the mass calculation. E=mxc² ;)
A corvette or a frigate should be possible to tract.
We are going to stick with the idea. The entire squadron will be able to immobilize corvettes, frigates and small cruisers.
Call it a benefit of alien "soul powered" technology.

In TIE Fighter, my recollection is that you could use the TIE Defender's tractor beam to slow down light cargo ships of the same general size class as the Millennium Falcon.
