So this is a fun ship.

Found at Bonadan, the Invincible will be part of the CSA defense fleet, and if Bonadan allies with the Hutt Empire, the ship will be recruitable. These ships have heavy armor, and strong shields. They have a lot of firepower to unleash, but the majority of their weapons are medium range. The ship was designed to rely on its massive 6 fingered shield array emitters for protection, so no AA weapons were present on the ship, thus making it heavily dependent upon escort ships.

NOTE:
I have decided to deviate from the Wookiepedia entry for this ship. The Hutt Empire needed a recruitable heavy capital ship to fight other capital ships, so that is the role that the Invincible falls into. The Wooki description does not make much sense. The ship is described as being 2011 m long, which is far longer than the 1600 m Star Destroyer, yet only armed with light weapons... the types of which would be found on a frigate or light cruiser, not a Dreadnaught. The Wooki description also shows the cartoon drawing of the ship, with massive weapon turrets... if the ship is longer than a Star Destroyer, and the Star Destroyer's octuple turrets are the most powerful weapons on any captial ship, then these massive guns on the drawing of the Invincible just don't make any sense, especially if the wooki description is calling them just lasers, which are a significantly weaker weapon than a turbolaser.

Due to these huge inconsistencies, I have chosen to make the Invincible into the ship is should be. A massive aging brawler, armed to the teeth, yet still in danger of modern state of the art weapons for balance purposes.

In short, this ship will die very easily against NR forces, but might prove quite successful against Vong ships, as long as it is not overcome by fighter swarms.

A real special thanks to Kharcov for his work on this ship. Kharcov made the entire hull and basic design of the ship. He added all the important parts that were found to be present in the drawing. I then worked on his model further to add all the weapons, and little details. By collaborating together, we were able to make a rather difficult shaped ship and detail it to match the quality of all other ships in only a few days. Thanks Khar :)

Here is the link to the wookiepedia entry.

Many people love this ship, and I really wanted to include it in the mod, and make it into something very special. If you read and think about what wookiepedia states, try to imagine something as large as the Imperial Star Destroyer, but only armed with about the same amount of weapons as the Assault Frigate, or Loronar Stike Cruiser... It just didn't make sense to me, so apologies from deviating away from wookie, but I felt it was worth it on this one.

The key bit in the wookieepedia article is "the Invincible-class dreadnaught was constructed... c. 3017 BBY"

The class is over 3000 years old. Technology has changed enormously over that time making the Invincible-class almost entirely redundant. For comparison consider the Dreadnaught-class which was designed only 80 years before the Clone Wars yet by the time that conflict began had been completely eclipsed by newer technology and ship designs.

Presumably the cost-benefit of trying to retrofit newer technology to the Invincible was too low for the CSA to bother, or their needs (primarily anti-piracy operations) didn't justify fitting a heavier armament.

Since it is designed by Rendili Stardrive, why not also make it recruitable from Rendili?

Makes me so sad I can't build it when I will wanna choose the NR most of the time, but I have such an obsession with Rendili ships.

It was only co-designed by rendili, so not a true rendili ship, and the only few that were left were stationed at bonodan, which was pretty much the graveyard of ancient ships since the CSA had a tradition of buying outdated ships that no one ever used anymore.

I just noticed something wrong with your model. That big thing on the front of the the dreadnaught isn't apart of the ship. In the picture that you as a reference, that's a barge crashing into the front of the ship, with a little help from Han. I just noticed this the for first the time a few minutes before I posted this.

Starwars.wikia.com

I also checked this Wiki page just to make sure. Starwars.wikia.com It's mentions a dreadnaught called Shannador's Revenge

You are correct. Personally though, I kind of like it the way it is.. looks like a bridge or something, not that it is, but it is what it appears to be.

The team is discussing this. For years, many of us just assumed that to be the bridge of the dreadnaught

While it looks kind of cool, IMO it doesn't really make much sense for something as important and as fragile as bridge to be at the front-most part of a large battleship making it first to reach enemy's firing range and most likely to be hit by enemy weapons.

Didn't realize, but Warb figured this out before any of us. His version just isn't as detailed or look as large.

Description

The name says it all...

Developed as the mainstay defense ship for Bonadan years earlier, the ship still holds it reputation strong. Heavily armored, and strongly shielded, the Invincibles were blistering with weaponry.

10 Heavy Dual beam laser turrets (Imperial Type), gave long range fire power to the ships, but this turret type had a long recharge time, and was not as far reaching as the Mon Calamari HDLT (Heavy Dual Laser Turret), which was also a beam weapon but did less damage. 66 Dual Medium Turbolaser turrets cover all sides and angles of the ship, acting as the main weapon banks. 17 Dual Medium Artillery Cannons, fitted with 8 on each side, and 1 bow mounted, provide long range artillery bombardment, yet these weapons are still not as far reaching as more modern Heavy Artillery Turrets. 10 forward fixed anti-capital missile silos are located on the ventral side of the ship, allowing the Invincible to charge head first into battle to unleash a devastating barrage to any enemy capital class cruiser.

While the Invincible-class was heavily armed, its weapons were out-dated by more modern weapons of the Vong Era. The ships still were a deadly threat to deal with, but their design predated fighter craft capable of carrying proton-torpedo technology, thus making the massive warships extremely vulnerable to strike craft and bombers.
