The Battle Horn
An aging cruiser, but still a common sites to many fleets as a support vessel, the Battle Horn servers the republic navies as an escort cruiser to larger warships. Not equipped with any heavy weapons, the Horn has been retrofitted over the years to carry an array of dual and quad medium turbolasers along with fast tracking blaster turrets. It's large radar array provides enhanced line of site and its bulbous head contains a ventral mounted hanger entrance to accomodate 1 squadron of fighters.

Since the Neutron-star was outdated and rare even by the Civil War, are we taking it that the Battle Horn-class was better in some way?
While the frame of the neutron-star snd the battle horn were virtually identical since they were sister ships, the difference was found in their superstructure composition. Battle Horns were generally regarded as an updated or later generation of the Neutron-Star . While both ships were relatively slow, and lacking heavy weaponry, the battle horn lent itself to easier ability of weapon upgrades, allowing newer types of turrets and firing control systems to be added.
retrofit kits might have helped. like the charger c20 kit i think it was called that upgraded the CR70 to CR90 standard, or the refits done to Chimera to bring her up to ISD-2 standard
