You really think you'd want to play something like an pre-pre-...-pre-alpha?
That might just allow you to open up the main menu. And then crash. Or not start at all.
Developer jokes aside, there won't be any kind of preview version of the mod available, ever.

We totally respect that!
In my opinion a closed Beta ~ 1 month befor the release could be quite handy to shoot down bugs which have their roots deep in the gameplay. Sometimes we modders dont have the time to actually play the mod (this is life xD ) so we dont always see these things :)
You mentioned the keyword: closed beta.
Open test versions have the nasty habit of turning into early releases instead of being a test bed for bug fixing, with almost no useful feedback whatsoever.
We obviously have to beta-test the mod, but to our terms in a closed environment with testers we trust to actually help us catching problems and thus will contact ourselves when the time comes.
There is neither applying, nor a public call for testers planned. That's what our full-release-only stance is about.
